    CB radio and mounting recommendations?

Here is my contribution. If you plan on going wheeling in Centralia's backroads, don't get such a high antenna. There are lots of low hanging branches as of last Saturday.

    CB Antenna Bracket

Check out my thread here. It all depends on where you plan on mounting the antenna. Each location dictates what sort of mount is used. Drilling really isn't too bad with this type of mount. You don't see the holes since they're in such a discrete location.

    Wish Us Luck

Did you get the notification in the mail recently? I wasn't sure if that recall was a new one or the one that was issued a few years ago....

Went to Centralia, PA this past weekend.

Yeah, just park at that huge left arrow sign and you're there. Hoofing it down is not a problem, although mine subsidence is still a major concern. You wouldn't want to fall in and get burned by scalding hot steam or asphalt, right? Most of the surrounding trails are decent around that...

Did it have a creepy metal fence around it? Wrought iron, maybe?

That's the closed section of 61 facing Northbound while standing in the closed section. If you were on the other side of that, you'd be at the "entrance". You'll have no trouble finding it. The Byrnesville (pro: Burnsville, ironic) Bypass will bank sharply to the left if your're heading...

You're very very lucky your KJ didn't fall into a subsidence and you didn't get injured. There is a reason why Route 61 is closed, plowed shut and a bypass. I live about 1/2 hour away from Centralia and there's always some jackass who gets their Jeep/Truck/ATV stuck because the ground...

2002 KJ CB & Antenna Install

Yeaaah, I failed to mention what the hell was going on there. The Wilson antenna comes with a ground wire that attaches to a hole in the mount. Since I added the spring, the wire wasn't long enough. Therefore, I soldered a piece in the middle and heat shrink wrapped it (red coating)...

    Head Gasket Issues?

I own an '02 4x4 Sport and replaced my radiator 3 times in the past 4 years. The first two times were nearly a year apart. The garage told me the radiator was plastic and pretty flimsy so it wasn't a surprise to them that it broke so soon. Symptoms were leaking fluid and heat only getting hot...

2002 KJ CB & Antenna Install

I was thinking of running the coax the same way, through the taillight assembly. I didn't want to risk pinching the coax, though. And you said exactly what I was thinking, in terms of a cleaner install in the interior, with running the coax under the plastic trim. I might eventually do that...

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've been meaning to write that up for a while now. :D

2002 KJ CB & Antenna Install

So, with having a Jeep, installing a CB radio only made sense to me. However, since most of the parts I found online were for Wranglers, I was more or less at a loss for how and where to install the cb and antenna in the KJ. With some determination, I bargained for a used but very sturdy cb rig...

Have you ever slept in your KJ?

I sure have. I got stuck on the Interstate for 16.5 hours in a blizzard in '07 heading to work (I'm considered an "essential" state employee so I didn't have a choice going in). I mostly slept in the driver's seat and reclined back and forth so much that I broke the recline lever right off...

What are you listening to in your Libby right now?...

...usually Sirius 27 - "Liquid Metal", or 28 - "Octane". And the chitter chatter over the CB when I pick something up.
