    06 Liberty 42RLE Trans Flush

The trans in my old Liberty didn’t seem to be shifting all that great, it has 139,000 km on it and had one previous filter change. I dropped the pan and replaced the filter, the pan drop replaces about half the fluid, the dry fill capacity is listed as 8.8 quarts. So I decided to do a full...

17” Rubicon Wheels on a Liberty

What’s the overall height of your tire, in the photo that I posed it looks like their might be some clearance issues. I sent an email to Synergy inquiring about a hub centric adapter.

17” Rubicon Wheels on a Liberty

Does anyone have any information on putting 17” Rubicon wheels on a Liberty? I really like the way these look. I’d be putting them on a 2006.

    Emergency brake won’t hold vehicle!

To sum it up it looks like my expectations were just too high. If I pull on the brake REALLY hard it will hold the vehicle, this brake is awful. I did check the brake lever and mine seems to be working properly. Thanks for the input.

    Emergency brake won’t hold vehicle!

I appreciate the replies. I adjusted the star wheels on the shoes until the shoes were in contact with the drum and then backed them off slightly. I checked my parking brake handle and it’s not slipping or popping like in the post. I’ll double check it and make sure that it’s consistently...

    Emergency brake won’t hold vehicle!

I have a 2006 Liberty and the emergency brake doesn’t feel firm, it feels springy (for lack of a better term). I’ve replaced every piece and it’s no different. I’m actually wondering if the activating lever for the brakes is installed incorrectly. The L and R were on the wrong side based on...

    ABS Issue

If it’s just the electronic module that needs to be replaced it’s about a 1/2 hour and the code read takes no time at all. The control module with the pump on the hydraulic side is more time consuming (3-4 hrs) and requires a full system bleed.

    ABS Issue

I’m having an ABS issue with my 2006 Liberty and I’m looking for trouble shooting suggestions. If I lock or spin the front wheels there is an ABS fault, the dash lights (ABS, Brake, Esc) all come on and the ABS system doesn’t work. If I shut the vehicle off and restart it the system resets. I...

    Auto Transmission Flushing

There is a filter change, which involves dropping the pan, changing the filter, and topping up the fluid. Depending on the transmission only about a third of the fluid is in the pan. (Sounds like that is what you had done) There is a flush which involves using a flushing machine that is...

    Auto Transmission Flushing

Hard for me to give much merit to a post full of childish comments and nothing resembling any technical information. FYI - A Ford service manger was well aware of the process. But I wasn't looking for information in relation to doing this on a Ford, I was looking for meaningful input in...

    Auto Transmission Flushing

I posted this in reference to the flush not reusing the gasket. I did this process on a Taurus and it worked really well. There was a noticeable improvement in the trans shifting after I did the flush. I didn't run the trans dry, as soon as the flow slowed I shut the engine off. Not enough...

    Auto Transmission Flushing

Does anyone know if a process similar to the one I've posted below will work on the KJ transmission? This process is for flushing Ford Taurus transmissions, I've done this process on a Taurus and it works really nice! FYI - I copied the process from a Ford forum. Here's the easiest and...

HOW TO: Add Aftermarket Heated Seats [06]

I finally got around to the final hook-up today. I received a copy of the heated seat wiring diagram for my 06 Liberty but I wasn't able to locate the power feed (RD/WT wire, fuse 30) or the ignition switched feed (GY/PK wire, fuse 25) anywhere under the seats. I checked the harness under...

HOW TO: Add Aftermarket Heated Seats [06]

TonyCRD reposted my question in the General Forum and rockymountain sent me the wiring diagram for the factory heated seats. I'm busy at work right now and haven't had a chance to have a look at the Jeep. Hopefully I'll get to it early in the week and I'll post my results. Thanks to...

    Heated seats wiring question

NOW I COULD USE SOME HELP - I had to run the power wires up under the dash. One lead needs to go to a minumum 10A unswitched source. The other lead needs to go to an ignition switched source to turn the control boxes off when the ignition is off to prevent the battery from being run down. Does...

HOW TO: Add Aftermarket Heated Seats [06]

I added the wiring harnesses to the Jeep. There are two harnesses for each seat, one for the power and one for the switch. Both harnesses are 3 wires. I decided combine the harnesses together and run them under the carpet with the stock wiring for a cleaner installation. They run under the...

HOW TO: Add Aftermarket Heated Seats [06]

I installed the switches in the console. Due to the depth needed for the switches there weren't very many places that they would fit. I ended up putting them beside the emergency brake handle. The holes are easily drilled in the console with a step drill. I also added a bit of epoxy to the...

HOW TO: Add Aftermarket Heated Seats [06]

Thanks for the welcome!! There is a control module and wiring harness that needs to be mounted under the seat. I used pop rivets to attach the module to the seat bottom. There are two plugs that will come off of the seat to the harnesses that need to be mounted in the Jeep. I attached the...
