    Thermostat Housing Leak?

Thanks, TJKJ, I'll check out the dealer for the thermo and replace the housing/ seal. Still using the original spring clamp too. It looks fine, but I was wondering if the metal could have fatigued and allowed it to loosen a bit. As far as the spring in the hose. I'll have to check that out. I'd...

    Thermostat Housing Leak?

Could the thermostat be the cause of the leak? If it were stuck closed? But wouldn't it have overheated? I don't mind searching one out through the dealer if necessary, but I'm wondering what went wrong as well. I'm still wondering if the missing air bleed hole could have something to do with it...

    Thermostat Housing Leak?

Decided to re-post this as its own topic, but long story short, I replaced the water pump, belt and thermostat on my '03 December 2012 and now... just had a problem after all this time. Got home to notice a small bunch of drops of coolant. Its coming from where the hose joins the thermo housing...

    Thermostat In Backwards?

Wow, so this was a year and half ago... just had a problem now. Got home to notice a small bunch of drops of coolant. Its coming from where the hose joins the thermo housing, but I cannot figure out why its leaking? Nothing seems loose. I double checked the housing bolts, the hose clamp is...

    Thermostat In Backwards?

Thanks guys and thanks tjkj2002. What I had figured. Its been running fine from the moment that I re-adjusted the hose clamp. Just needed someone to tell me that I was thinking correctly about it. Will keep you all updated on it as well! Thanks again!

    Thermostat In Backwards?

Anyone else have an opinion? I believe that its in correctly, but I'd love a confirmation...

    Thermostat In Backwards?

So, anyone? In short, does the fact that even though the bottom radiator hose is ice cold, I am getting normal heat and normal engine temp mean nothing is wrong? Am I over thinking this? I just want a second opinion from someone who has a bit more experience with Libs than I.

    Thermostat In Backwards?

Could I have? I changed out a failed water pump last weekend and while I had everything drained, decided to change out the hoses, the belt, new coolant (to replace the stuff puked out on the driveway...) and the thermostat, Stant 14369. As I got to start putting it all back together I realized...

    Tire Cupping?

Problem solved... I hope! Toe in was way off, though caster and camber within range. Our shop thought that it was just lack of rotation that was causing the cupping. My bad... Struts, ball joints, tie rods all check out fine. It was nearly time for new tires in any case so we replaced the old...

    Tire Cupping?

Thanks, good advice. We're taking it in tomorrow for the alignment. I've set alignment before (toe-in...) but only with a solid axle. Don't know where to begin with IFS.

    Tire Cupping?

Yeah, I guess that I already know that but was wondering if both tires cupping on one side seem to indicate anything in particular?

    Tire Cupping?

Alright, I already know the usual causes of tire cupping- worn suspension, underinflation, wheels out of balance, etc... The driver's side inside is the worst and the passenger side outside (both pointing to the right side) is starting to cup. Tie rods and ball joints seen to be fine and...

    PO442 CE code

So the LIb spat out this code yesterday, a Small EVAP Emissions Leak. Gonna go out and check and make sure the gas cap is on tight, but is there any way to clear the light (short of a reader...) until I figure out if this is it? TIA

Finally rotated the tires and some Q's?

No biggie, RedBone. I love discussions and they definitely help even when they go off on a tangent. Makes you think about things that you may not have thought about to begin with. And no, while I don't use a torque wrench, I never sit on the lugwrench until my eyeballs pop. I may compare what I...

Finally rotated the tires and some Q's?

And thanks for all the replies. I had no idea that it would cause a mechanical engineering argument. :D I'm going out on a limb here and say that I am still going to use grease (a thin coating, mind you...) on the threads because I don't care about torque values as I don't use a torque wrench...

Finally rotated the tires and some Q's?

Nah, not the first time. We bought new tires a couple of years back, so this was really the first time that I've done it in about two years. :D

Finally rotated the tires and some Q's?

Yep, all of them are like that. I may have to do that. Any good writeups on replacing the studs? And thanks for the suggestion on the nuts.

Finally rotated the tires and some Q's?

So, I finally rotated the tires for the first time since we bought the Lib in 2005. Its my wife's vehicle and while I have always done my own work on my TJ, I've never really done too much for the Lib except for oil changes (and even then, it wasn't until a few years back that I did for the...

    Snowballing

And you have to look at it this way. Any repair on a jeep is an excuse to upgrade!

    Snowballing

Yep, that's a pretty typical Jeep experience. Had the same thing happen to me with my TJ this summer. Started out with a new radiator, which led to new heater hoses, clamps, etc... thermostat... Then it was replace the tie rod and you may as well upgrade when you do that. Then I discovered that...
