I had the harmonic thumping up to 50 mph for a few months. Couldnt figure it out. Saw that the rigth CV had too much play front to back and left to right when i wiggled it. Replaced it and intermediate shaft and viola it was fixed. $200 and a few hours but fixed.
how do u figure????? if i get 14.5 mpg (no matter how far i drive each day) getting 3-4 more mpg would save me around $500-550/year at the pump (@12000mi per year). not to mention increase the life of my drive train and reduce stress on my 103k mile engine.
no definitely not talking about the same thing lol. I missed the part about the 6" lift. My uca ball joint came with a rubber boot and a rubber "seat" or spacer that sits in the knuckle. The ball joint then slides into that.
yeah... that rubber spacer is in between my UCAs and knuckle too... that didnt look right to me... but i trusted the "experts" on that one, and i have camber issues too.
I'll probably do the install myself. We've pulled XJ's and Chevy's apart but never the gears on the libby. SO the re-build kit is a must? I dont remember paying that much for the XJs or Chevy we did.
ive got a homemade Frankie lift on my '04 Limited and 245/70/17 Pirelli ATRs.
I get only about 14-16mph in the city and 17-18 hwy (70mph). What gear ratio, brand and site does anyone recommend to get my mileage up to the 18-22 range i had before my lift and upgraded tires?
Other than...
i have heard both sides of the spectrum. some ppl have trouble but most dont. i guess it depends on the shop u take it too... i went to 3 before it was drivable. I beat it up a few weeks then took it back to my "new" guy. any shop relying on just the digital machine (it seems like most of...
no extra rear iso's needed for these tires. but i couldnt get the camber all the way out on my alignment after i added extended UCAs, so i needed to add wheel spacers with my lift to get the alignment close.... you should be fine
actually a 245/70/17 is equal to a 31"
245 (width) x .70(height) / 10(mm to cm conv) / 2.54(cm to inch conversion)
=245x.7/25.4 = 6.75 inches (per side wall)
you have 2 sidewalls plus a 17"wheel
6.75"x2+17"= 30.5"
Most tires in this size will range from 30.3 to 30.9" depending on the tread...
Okay, my turn...

here are some pics after a few days on the road. Not as aggressive as most treads out there, but they ride great. I have even seen an increase in Gas Mileage since I put them on last Sunday. a solid 1 MPG increase lol (16 to 17 mpg).
im asking again, partly because my original question wasn't answered 2 years ago lol. I have stock 17x7' Chrome Clad wheels w/ 1" wheel spacers (used to clear the control arms, sway bars and fenders). I am interested in putting a 16" wheel on.
Do I go with 16x7 or 16x8?
What backspacing...
i'd have to regretfully say that I'm the chicken... i love jeeps, MY JEEP ESPECIALLY. I love workin on it, fixin broken crap and puttin on new crap that makes it different than any other jeep around my home town. BUUUTTTTT.... I baby the hell out of it cuz its all I got and I plan to get a...
