    Radiators

Ask any Jeep dealer and I bet they'll all say that they have changed plenty of leaky Mopar rads that were WAY less than 10 years old. I live in Dubai, where summer temps routinely reach 120F for about 4 months of the year, so it's possible that the heat stress is that much higher. Every single...

    Radiators

None. Jeep runs just fine, never a hint of overheating. I've always had early warning of leaks so I've been able to change the rads before the coolant loss got serious. My experience is that Mopar is massively overrated. There's nothing magical about it, it's still just third-party parts...

    Radiators

I bought my KJ new in 2005, and it's on its third Mopar rad. They seem to last 3 years on average. I'm not going to bother spending Mopar money on the next one. My ZJ has had a Silla (bought through Radiator Express) for 4 years now, half the price of the KJ rad and doing just fine.

Sudden vibration/noise from blower motor (VIDEO)

The blades aren't touching anything. It's just a vibration between the blower and the HVAC housing.

Sudden vibration/noise from blower motor (VIDEO)

There's no space for one. I've looked for places where I could attach foam tape, but there are none. Anything you put between the motor and the HVAC housing will prevent it attaching to the housing.

Sudden vibration/noise from blower motor (VIDEO)

So all of a sudden, the blower motor in my 2005 KJ is vibrating and making a really objectionable noise when the blower is on 4 (which it needs to be during the summer). It can also start making the noise when it's on 3 and the Jeep goes over a speed bump or similar. I've had the motor out, and...

    Has anyone replaced their evaporator?

    Done. Confirmed.

    Has anyone replaced their evaporator?

Process of elimination. There's a leak, but the dye test indicates that it's not from any of the components in the engine bay.

    Has anyone replaced their evaporator?

AC is losing refrigerant and it's been traced to a hole in the evap. Deep joy. Has anybody pulled their dash to replace the evap? I've done it in my ZJ, and there's a quick'n'dirty way that means that in about an hour, you can get the dash pivoted away from the firewall far enough to access...

    Suspension bushing question.

If the clevis bushings are bad, it's a fair bet that the large pivot bushings (where the LCA attaches to the frame) are in need of replacement too. You *could* theoretically replace the clevis bushings with the arms still attached to the Jeep, but by the time you've disassembled everything that...

Anyone changed the evaporator in their KJ?

I've got a leaking evaporator, which obviously isn't so great with summer on the way. Has anyone tried doing an evap replacement in their KJ? There are various writeups for the ZJ that show you to get to the HVAC box with drastically less work than the full FSM procedure - about 2 hours...

    Chaning rear shocks

Just did mine the other week. 18mm bolt and nut at the bottom, 17mm bolt at the top. I had the rear of the Jeep up on jackstands under the frame rails and took the wheels off for maximum access. I have the W7150 cordless impact, which tore the lug nuts and shock fasteners off like they weren't...

    Left rear window failed!

I had my left rear regulator replaced by the dealership under warranty. The replacement broke within six months. Both rears now have the Steiger part in them.

    airbag & low fuel light

On my 2005 KJ, you can choose the headlight switchoff delay (up to 1 minute) or turn it off completely. You do this through the overhead console.

Doing my own front shocks, Product question.

I've just priced up OME struts and coils all round, plus new Mopar isolators and mounts. It's quite a lot more than I can justify, given that Monroe quick struts are so cheap. Oh well :(

Doing my own front shocks, Product question.

OK, you've got me interested in the OME coils and shocks, I like the idea of better ride quality with just a tiny bit of lift. Do you use standard Mopar isolators and upper mounts with them, or do you need to upgrade those as well?

Doing my own front shocks, Product question.

After watching Eric the Car Guy's video on what happens when a typical parts-store spring compressor fails, I'd be nervous about doing the job myself. It's worth noting that the FSM for the KJ specifically states that you should use a professional wall-mounted spring compressor (about...

Where to get wire harness connectors and pins?

Go here: Mopar Connection Repair Kit It's the official Mopar wiring connector search site (wiring/connectors are not listed in the standard parts catalogs). Enter your model code and year (it goes back as far as 1997) and you'll be able to drill down to a Mopar part number for the connector you...

    P2311 DTC....need input.

Just as a heads-up (if you didn't already know), there is at least one company in the south-eastern USA selling refurb ECUs that you're advised not to touch with a ten-foot pole. Numerous Jeepers (and owners of other makes) have cautionary stories to tell about dealing with them. A bit of...
