Did you read post #4 in this discussion thread? And then look at the pictures in subsequent posts?
It really is not as hard as you are making it out to be.
Take a deep breath and go read this entire thread.
Ya know, I was about to take it to the car wash that cleans/sprays underneath as well.
Yes, under warranty. I wanted to make sure it wasn't the oil filter (that I changed 2 months ago).
Ummmm, ........ maybe you missed it in my original post in this thread?
Maybe I should have said the filter is "TOWARDS" the back of the engine compared to all the hydraulic lines and suspension components that are coated with oil.
Oil was even on the bottom line of the smaller...
I changed the oil about 2 months ago myself. Filter was NOT cross-threaded. And certainly not loose. I changed the oil again today just to check the filter (see above post). It was SNUG.
And since the filter is at the back of the engine, I am not sure how oil could get all over FORWARD...
The oil that is coating the undercarriage is golden-brownish, same as the engine oil. The power steering fluid is red.
What is weird is that all the nylon/mesh hydraulic line sleeved/protectors have the oil saturated in them. Guess the leaking oil wicked around the lines.
I changed the...
2008 Liberty Sport 3.7 4x4
Oil leak somewhere on drivers side around the bottom engine compartment. Cannot tell what is leaking though. Too cramped and too many hydraulic lines in that area. Everything is dripping.
What is that small sized "cooler" in the front bottom of the grill area...
Well, DUH, you state the obvious. :D
The question was, is it just a reminder or is there some kind of oil sensor saying the oil is dirty?
But I do thank you for the details on reseting the indicator light. How many miles is a reset good until it comes on again??
There's a light on the dashboard that says "CHANGE OIL". Stays on for short while when first starting engine and you drive away.
Is that just some kind of reminder light? Or is it "saying" there is a problem detected?
How do you reset the reminder? I *did* change the oil last month...
And I thought changing the oil on our old 2005 Liberty 4x4 was awkward and messy (that stupid angled oil filter).
Changing the oil on the 2008 Liberty 4x4 is harder. More difficult to snake your arms in there to spin off the old filter. I was able to spin off the filter from above on the...
Weird situation..... fuse was NOT blown. In the darkness I *thought* it was blown.
So now I am really perplexed..... engine running and I start playing with the buttons along the top of the radio.... the one's that are for an integrated handsfree radio etc etc. I pressed all of them very...
2008 Liberty Sport 3.7 4x4
Grrrrr stock cd 6 spkr radio blew the fuse. Turned on car. Turned on radio, 1 second later the fuse blew.
Have to go buy a new 30 amp fuse tomorrow...... no idea if it will blow again.
Is this a common problem with Libby's?
Might be a sign of the blower motor having a problem.
The way the resistor block function was explained to me, is that position 4 is "straight thru" full power no resistance added. Position 3 is some resistance and down to position 1 is the most resistance. Resistance slows down the blower...
Well, we did it. Turned in the 2005 and leased a 2008 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 with the Prefered Equipment Group. $400 and change down TOTAL.
They look better in and out than the 2005. Those grey platic fender flares on teh 05 looked cheesy in comparison Nicer ride not as hard and jolting...
Well, the night manager was lying. The car was NOT going to fail inspection. The next morning I talked to the main service manager. He said it was only "recommended" that I have all 4 rotors and pads replaced since they were so close to metal on metal contact.
Since the front pads cost...
Good idea on the bottle as a "chute". But doesn't a good amount still trickle down the block?
I am still amazed at the dumb location and angle of the oil filter.
