Several years ago I gave up my beloved 2006 CRD and my not so loved '89 k2500 for a Super Duty 6.7. Not sure where the K2500 but the CRD stayed in the family and moved to Maui. My son-in-law has a problem that he thinks is associated with the crank sensor but he can't get it out, it is stuck...
When I got it in 05 we didn't have USLD but we do now.
The most common aditive used here for diesels is probably "Power Service" but it is messy to use and you don't want to spill it from what I hear. Some put it into smaller bottles to add on a tank fill basis but if it spills in you rig...
I have never used any. On this side of the pond most cold weather distributors include cold weather fuel additives to the mix when the weather gets cold.
Landy at LOSTKJS bought a Drawtite front receiver hitch and is using it as a pattern to manufacture a short run of them, pre-ordered, for all those that missed out on them while they were being manufactured. You can get in the line up...
I am not going to dig through the manual but I am pretty sure the EGR is not vacuum driven on the CRD.
There are multiple solutions to the problem. Some recommend a plate and that apparently will not throw a code but I have only seen it mentioned without much documentation.
A LOSTKJ...
I once drove 70 miles on the light when nearly new (the last 30 miles was from over 3K feet to about 200 feet). In the last year or so the sensor has changed when it alarms and it no longer gives me more than about 10 to perhaps 20 miles of margin depending on where I am driving.
I was able to negotiate a group buy for LOST from Linear Logic. You can find it at this link: http://www.lostkjs.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23817
The ScanGaugeII is popular with CRD owners in particular but if you are not familiar with it think EVIC combined with an OBDII code...
I pulled the 6x12 over two mountain passes two Saturday's ago. I didn't need that large a trailer but my past towing experience has shown me that longer, heavier, two axle trailers are a more stable tow than little single axle trailers. I really hardly noticed the trailer was back there but...
Again, keep an eye out on you air filter and on the intercooler hoses. If this engine can't breath correctly it will breath through the crankcase and pull oil from there. Many have had this experience but it only occassionally results in significant oil use. It will destroy the intercooler...
My CRD gets regular use not heavy so my book says 12K between changes but everything changes depending on use and setup.
There have been a few CRD's that use oil regularly that I have heard about and then others that use it for some other reason. One of the other reasons is the air intake...
When you shift into Select Trac the dwarf under the floor boards activates to grab the two half shafts and actually hold all the stuff together to deliver Select Trac features. That dwarf sits on a little platform with a flip up guard on the front that releases when you shift into Select Trac...
No, that's all I needed. Now we just need to figure out how they interfaced the fuel temp, fuel heater and the ECU.
We are experiencing a lot of fuel head filter problems over on this side of the pond with air leaks and fuel leaks. We knew the 2.5 used the filter shown but others in Europe...
