    Transmission help 42RLE

Oh I know it. Hit a deer and replaced one and now just put new cooler lines and another cooler on after my converter failure. I can see some about half of my cooler through my bumper but I have a center push bar on with diamond plate so I know it blocks a lot. I should do some fabrication...

    Transmission help 42RLE

Sorry to hear that. I think most Liberty are notorious to the same problems anyhow. This was my first rebuild and I studied it online and in my DSM and found great videos but I could’ve missed something. I posted pictures and was told that’s normal wear and I’ve heard not good. Obviously not...

    Transmission help 42RLE

Thanks for taking the time. It’s nice to have a place with like minded people that know these vehicles. I appreciate your findings as well, I will print them out and take on some more troubleshooting this weekend then report back. Most everything I saw pertaining to the P0870 code suggested...

Not that I have seen in my recent studies and I think jasper is the most known. I would always recommend remanufactured over reconditioned.

    Transmission help 42RLE

Any vehicle issue is no bueno. Seems like it’s one thing after another with my 05 KJ but I just keep fixing it. Interesting. I’ve never even heard of them before but for the warranty alone, that’s exceptional service. Fortunately to me, I do have another vehicle, my 1983 Dodge Rampage, daily...

    Transmission help 42RLE

That really is too bad, my friend. Never a good day when one goes down. I wonder about Mopar Transmissions but I was always taught, everything last when taken care of, mostly. Hope you got the old girl back going!?

You’ve eased my mind. Now that is catastrophic failure, and I see snap ring, was it the low reverse upper or what do you assume failed first?

There are roll beads in the new Transmission pan where particulate is concentrated. This is after settling all night. Some matter is the coating from the inner part of clutches (teeth) where they spline up on their hubs, I do recognize that but there’s also glitter. Old, new, idk. Ty

I removed the Solendoid Block from v-body and it’s top plate to check continuity on the 2 terminals of each 1of4 solenoids - all read 1.4ish but consistently. Trans still bolted to engine. I ordered a reman MOPAR SOLENOID BLOCK (lifetime warranty) and new OEM trans filter to try as last...

    Transmission help 42RLE

Thanks for the reply! I’ll tell ya, all I found for research on valvebody wear was a shuttle port that wears out and I didnt see anything there. I think the Transmission had been overhauled beforehand as the solenoid block is time stamped 06 and my KJ is an 05. I considered a boneyard Tran...

    Torque Converter Brands?

I figured this out btw. There’s a deeper set of splines (smallest/deepest setting shaft) that counts 22 ridges and 21 valleys. Therefore, I am good to go minus which brand TQC to go with. Thanks all!!

    Torque Converter Brands?

Does anybody happen to know why my shaft out of my Transmission oil pump going into the converter and the converter both are 27 spline and all replacement torque converter read 22 spline for my KJ or 29 for other model KJ’s?? (Inside the converter has 3 ridges of 8 which would be 24 and 3 gaps...

That’s alright. I found that when I looked it up and apparently they swapped some out with the same TC then an upgraded one along with that flash.

    Torque Converter Brands?

@LibertyTC I considered a reman transmission but I’m able bodied so I decided to jump in. My kit did come with new clutche packs, piston and accumulator covers, seals, gaskets, o-rings and steels so hopefully it’ll do the trick. And purchasing a new Torque Converter also. But time will tell then.

    Torque Converter Brands?

Thanks @turblediesel I’ll look into the suncoast and I did hear about the flash I suppose you would call it. I’d like to have that done at my local dealership once back together.

    Torque Converter Brands?

I appreciate you reaching out @LibertyTC I did a filter change and fresh 4 qts or so from dropping pan and also tried the lube gard shudder fix and it worsened my scenario. My clutches are glazed over so I’m down to replacing the converter and after input to manufacturers etc. Also, I had...

    Engine shut off / P0129, 290, 325, 330, 340

Seems to be good information to know and I'll take all the knowledge can get. As far as to your experience, seems odd enough out of a good old Jap truck but every dog has his day, for better worse. At least you knew your way around the engine bay, being high and dry that far out can be a...

    Engine shut off / P0129, 290, 325, 330, 340

Well that makes for pretty good luck to me.. I did a little looking around and was able to see in there a little bit.. The fuse on my 05 KJ is wrapped up in a factory electrical tape mixed with shrink wrapping.. I was lucky indeed and better days always come around.. Thanks, @daves06lrenegade
