    Puddle of red under KJ

Thanks again for all the replies. Had another look at it yesterday and some of the heater (I think!) pipes are wet so I’m wondering if something has come loose somewhere with the matrix bypass pipe work. Will be going to garage end of this week so hopefully they will get to the bottom of it...

    Puddle of red under KJ

It’s an 04. I’m not sure what coolant was put in it as my partner did it but I’m fairly sure it wasn’t HOAT. Not that easy getting hold of it here and our mechanic (apparently incorrectly) advised us that due to its age it’s highly unlikely the jeep has had HOAT in it for a long time so...

    Puddle of red under KJ

Thanks for all the replies. Have actually had a few coolant issues with the jeep in the last few months, no idea if any of it is related or not. Coolant in the res started dropping and a cracked res cap was replaced which stabilised the levels for 2 weeks then it dropped again and smoke/coolant...

    Puddle of red under KJ

I'm back again :( Drove the jeep this morning on a short run, got home and parked up. Went back out to it a few hours later and noticed a rather large puddle underneath it. Colour was a light red, transmission fluid I assume? Got under it and managed to take these pictures, can't afford...

    Front wheels locking up

The wheels do move lock to lock when sitting and it has been looked at underneath, no sign of anything broken but it is getting dark now so hard to see. Currently waiting for breakdown service to send someone out to it. Just thought I’d see how much this might cost in the mean time.

    Front wheels locking up

Need some help again please! Jeep is currently stuck in a car park as the front wheels are locking up and not moving when they are turned. Snowed this morning so Jeep was used in 4WD full time. Went back out in it later using 2WD and there was a loud bang from under it. Jeep can now go...

    Power Outlet = fuse issue

Thanks for the response. I have not checked the fuses myself but just had a quick look at the manual and it states the front power outlet should have a 20amp fuse and the heater I have apparently requires 12.5 amps. This is possibly a stupid question but how do I find out if anything else is...

    Power Outlet = fuse issue

Hi, 2004 Liberty KJ, blown heater matrix and because nobody near me in the UK wants to do the job I have had to have the coolant pipes re-routed. Anyway, it is starting to get cold outside now so I went and purchased a 12V (150w) in-car heater to try and take the edge off a bit. It worked...

    Losing coolant (KJ,liberty)

Thanks for the advice, the jeep is currently at my local 4x4 specialist but it is unlikely he will want to tackle this job so this would be my only solution bar pouring in some magic leak seal potion which I don't wanna do in case it messes anything else up. Probably a stupid question but if I...

    Losing coolant (KJ,liberty)

Checked it, looks fine. I'm assuming it has a curry smell because it likely has the wrong coolant in (purchased the car when it was 10 years old and not many mechanics in the UK know of HOAT so it's unlikely it's had it in it for a very long time) Went out in it today and had steam/smell...

    Losing coolant (KJ,liberty)

No more coolant appears to have vanished (yet) however we now have an awful curry/spice smell coming from the vents when the heat/air con is turned on so I am assuming heater core is busted? Cannot find anyone local to me that is even willing to do this job, gutted if I have to get rid of it...

    Losing coolant (KJ,liberty)

Thanks for your response. Haven't seen any problems last couple of times we looked but I suppose it could be hard to spot! Shall keep looking. Partner took the reservoir cap off this morning after driving to work for some reason and it hissed and the coolant did rise back up to its original...

    Losing coolant (KJ,liberty)

Hi, need some advice. Have a 2004 Jeep liberty on 113k that has developed an issue. Coolant level stayed the same for the first year of ownership though didn't rise or fall depending on engine temperature either. It randomly dropped about an inch and stayed at that level for a few weeks then...
