    RIP KJ

Oh I totally believe that. The Patriot definitely feels A LOT less sturdy than the KJ.

    RIP KJ

It's a 2014. The transmission upgrade was from 2015 on I believe. Mine has the CVT transmission, which from what I've read is definitely a weak point. I looked for one with the upgraded transmission, but the only one I could find close to here didn't have 4x4. But I don't do any real...

    RIP KJ

A 2014 Patriot Limited. It's a nice vehicle, and I like that it's a lot newer, but I'm really not a fan of the I4 engine. Compared to the V6 KJ, it really lacks in power. And only having a 13.5 gallons fuel tank gets pretty inconvenient at times.

    transfer case noise

Use the old hex bolts. I had issues with the inside of several of the allen head bolts getting ground down, so the allen wrench/bit wasn't able to properly grip the bolt anymore. The material of a lot of those cheap aftermarket bolts is just way too soft.

    RIP KJ

The insurance company ended up offering just a little over 4k, which was honestly a lot more than I was expecting. I might have been able to squeeze a couple hundred more dollars out of it, but I just wanted to be done with the whole situation. This was at least enough to cover the downpayment...

Need a link or a part number

I got mine here: https://www.bushingfix.com/jeep-liberty-shift-cable-bushing-options/ Worked well, extremely easy to install. Just make sure you look at the pictures of the transfer case cables that they provide, so you can get the right bushing.

    RIP KJ

Thanks for all the advice about dealing with the insurance everyone. I've gathered all the receipts for all the major work I've done on it. Just waiting to hear from the insurance adjuster now. As far as buying it back and fixing it up goes, unless the insurance pays me a LOT more than I'm...

    RIP KJ

Well, my KJ is gone :(. I was going down a highway at about 60mph, when a 17 year old kid driving his parents' old Ford Ranger decided to blow a stopsign coming from a side street. He attempted to cross the highway right in front of me. I was unable to swerve out of the way due to traffic in the...

    Annoying Jeep Sound

Any chance it could be an exhaust leak from the exhaust manifolds, or the connection between the manifold and the downpipe? When I had an exhaust leak there (which was a ticking noise rather than this hissing), it also sounded like it was coming from inside the center of the dashboard. It would...

    02 limited 3.7 Leaking coolant

Instead of getting the special installer tool, you can just use the crankshaft bolt to drive the pulley down.

    Ideas for bolt removal

I had one that I had to cut out using a sawzall, it was completely seized up inside the control arm sleeve.

    02 sensor help please 06 3.7

That is definitely the correct part. The downstream sensors for bank 1 and bank 2 are the same part. So, try switching the sensor that's giving you issues with the bank 1 downstream sensor. Clear the code, and see if a new code show up for bank 1. That will tell you whether the sensor is...

    NV/NP-231-J Help

There are two different widths of chain available, and there are at least two different kinds of oil pumps and output shafts. I found it out the hard way haha, I ended up with a new oil pump with a spline count that didn't match my output shaft. Bearing and seal for the range selector input also...

    NV/NP-231-J Help

Just be aware that there are several different versions of the 231J. For example, the one listed on that website has a completely different snout for the output shaft than most 2005+(?) KJ's do. Make sure to take a look at the parts fiche for your specific year, and compare the part numbers to...

What is the component that has a leak?

As DadOSix mentioned, it's a ground stud. It does not go through into the block, so there's no way it can leak. What condition is your PCV valve in? If it's old or clogged it can slowly leak oil, and it's located straight above that stud.

What is the component that has a leak?

What engine and transmission does your KJ have? This doesn't look familiar to me at all.

Coolant over-pressurizing after engine turned off... heat soak?

When you drain the system, make sure you get a complete flush, and then fill it with the proper HOAT coolant. HOAT is always yellow/orange, so whatever you have in there now is not the proper coolant for the KJ.

    Transfer case removal

The two 'hidden' bolts are on top of the case. You should be able to stick your hand up there and feel them. In order to remove them, you will have to lower the transmission/transfer case assembly to create more space. Remove the trans crossmember (with the attached trans mount), which will...
