    Need to find front U-Joints

Sounds like a dumb question, I know. The front U-joint is bad causing a vibration, so I was just going to change it out, wrong. Advance and Autozone don't have a listing for a front drive shaft U-joint, NAPA doesn't even show that they made any 4-wheel drive Libertys from 02-07. No one offers a...

    3.7 timing chain longevity

Not necessarily. The 2.7 has a chain and they love to break, especially if you do a lot of high RPM acceleration. Undone, the chain is about 4’ long. They stretch until the tensioner cannot keep them tight any more. Once they are loose, the slack allows the cams to jerk the chain as they...

    3.7 timing chain longevity

My '02 has 165,000 on it and has never been apart. Do they have timing chain failures? Some engines go for ever on the timing chain and others have to have them changed religiously, I wasn't sure which one the 3.7 was.

Diesel CRD Buy or not to buy

I have lots of experience with diesels; we farm full time and I've wrenched on the big 3 for a living (Cat, Cummins, and Detroit, not GM, Ford, and Chrysler). I was a little leery about a foreign diesel. We had a skid loader with a Japanese (Issourima sp?) diesel that came apart on us and...

    Coolant appitite.....:(

The poor Liberty has developed a veracious appitite for coolant in the last couple of months. I have lived with it for a while periodically checking to maintain correct levels, but.......it has come to the point where it's using 1/4-1/2 gallon a week. I'm going to pull it apart in the next...

    Broken Valve Spring

I bought my '02 with the same issue; dealer said it burned up the engine and the owners didn't want to put any money in it. I didn't pull the heads, just replaced the one valve spring. I've put 6,000 miles on it so far. Between all the vehicles I've worked on, this is the first valve spring...

Diesel CRD Buy or not to buy

I'm new to the Liberty world; this site has been very insightful, thank you. I was really excited when I found they made a diesel version. We do a lot of driving towing a 5X12 enclosed single axle trailer to different balloon events; the liberty and trailer are a great fit together. The...

    Diesel Liberty's

I'm new to the Liberty world; this site has been very insightful, thank you. I bought an '02 not running because I need something different for pulling a small enclosed trailer we use for ballooning. I got it pretty cheap, thankfully, because it's needed SO much stuff to bring it back to...
