    liberty vs rav4

I agree with pretty much all the points here. The car platform has always been a sore spot with me with all of the compact SUV's. I had considered a Ford Escape for along time, but the front drive based platform with an independant rear suspension had turned me off even though I liked the...

    Shifting FT > PT

Owners manual should say, but you should slow down to 2-3mph, shift the transmision to neutral (if you have an automatic, depress the clutch if you have manual). While the vehicle is coasting 2-3mph shift into 4LO, the same to go back out of 4LO. Don't pause the transfer case lever in the...

Which side is your speedo on?

I agree, that's the traditional arrangement in every car I've ever owned, including my Jeep. Got in my bro's '05 once, although I liked the look of the instrumentation, I didn't care for the swapping of the tach and speedo.

Coolant Leak, trouble tracking it down.

That's what I thought it was at first, but it was everywhere, and I couldn't tell for sure. I could see where it was being sprayed onto everything, clear up to the hood liner. I'm just glad it's taken care of, I was really disappointed though to see something like this go bad at such a low...

Coolant Leak, trouble tracking it down.

Yeah, I just got back with it, everything seems to be fine, nice shiny new pump on there. The swingate recall is a customer satisfaction issue that they issued back around 2004. I guess what was happening was that water was getting down in the actuator for the rear glass, causing it to short...

Coolant Leak, trouble tracking it down.

Yeah I wasn't sure that it would be covered either, but the service rep brought it up before I did...they're also doing the swinggate recall that's been out on it since 2004. I don't have the towing package though, wish I did though.

Coolant Leak, trouble tracking it down.

Just got a call from the dealer, water pump it is. I searched and found a few other people on here that had the same trouble at lower milage...kinda odd I think, a waterpump should be one of the last things to go bad at low miles. ](*,) But it's covered under powertrain warranty so I just...

Coolant Leak, trouble tracking it down.

On my way home from work last night I noticed my heat wasn't all that warm, but I did have it turned down, so I didn't think much of it. Thismorning I went out, and I had it turned up and got no heat at all. I immediately checked the coolant level and my bottle was pretty much empty, and there...

    Wiki Wiki Wiki Wiki

There are some errors and conflicts with the tire sizes they are listing. A 235/65/17 is not a 28" tire, it is 29" and so on, almost all the ones I checked were wrong....

    Fresh Pics...

We get a little of that here too, but not too bad...warmed up today and for the next few days, now everything is wet and going to get muddy.

    Spare Tire Cover-Good or Bad?

Well for those who don't rotate the 5th in with the other wheels, the tire on the spare may be on there the life of the vehicle, where as the other 4 will be replaced long before any UV damage would occur. The spare could be on there for years, on a vehicle with 100k+ miles, where the other...

What oil filter do you use?

Me too, especially this time of year, but luckily a friend of my dad's works at Jiffy Lube, so I take to them and they change it for free. I provide the oil, I don't use their oil, and I buy the filter, and they change it for me. When the weather warms up I'll go back to doing it myself again...

    Spare Tire Cover-Good or Bad?

The covers protect the tire well against UV rays so they don't dry rot...I leave mine on most of the time, but I like my wheels a lot, and in nice weather I do take it off from time to time. When I go to a bigger tire, I'm contemplating even getting a new cover to fit, I haven't decided yet.

    KJ in the shop...

Same with mine after the theft...$3600 bill and nobody has yet been able to tell what was done on it, until I tell them, and they still can't tell anything has been done looking at the known areas. \:D/

What oil filter do you use?

Just like the title says, poll on oil filters, what do you use....I apologize if I missed any brands, post your brand if I missed it. I usually use Purolator Pure One filters in all my stuff, occasionally on some Fords I've had I've used the Motorcraft part, but I mostly stick to Purolator, and...

    Before & After Photos-Rusty's Lift/Grabber AT2s/Roof Bas

Why? If there isn't a rubbing issue with that size, are there any advantages justifying the price? I'm going to run 245/65's on my 17's when my current set wears out, but I'm not lifting.

Is it normal for water to flow by door hinge?

Only thing I could figure is where the water normally drains through is frozen with ice, and what you're seeing is overflow that's finding an alternate route. Just a thought.

Is it normal for water to flow by door hinge?

I haven't noticed anything like that on mine, even after a wash, and we just had freezing rain here a couple days ago....I just got done removing a half inch thick sheet of ice from my entire roof.
