Hey Jay, I want tow hooks also. I don't know if the 08 KK originally had tow hooks or not. Or to go with aftermarket. Any ideas would be appreciated. Transfer Case Fluid Plugs
My belief, as I had heard it before from someone I felt knew, is that the oil or fluid color doesn't matter much. That shortly after putting in the oil it turns black. Further, even if it does turn black, I'm not going to change it. The recommended on it is 30,000 miles. I may well change...- David13

Drained and refilled the transfer case. Fluid black, and didn't seem to be much of it. Drained front diff and am about ready to refill it, or .... tomorrow. Front Crossmember
Left the Liquid Wrench on the transmission cross member bolts, the studs that go into the rear trans mount. And they all came off nicely today. I'll replace the nuts. And order the cross member. dc- David13

Thanks for the replies. I checked the Haynes and Chiltons books and found nothing, but they both have teh torque specs. It occurred to me that there may be an o ring that goes in behind those plugs, so I checked moparwholesaleparts catalog to see. No o ring, but they have the plugs whch come...- David13

I opened the transfer case today and started drainng the fluid. In removing both the top and lower plugs, I see a reddish or orange sealer or rtv sealer. Is that necessary? Finally found some LIquid Wrench (at Tractor Supply). Sprayed the rear transmission cross-member bolts and nuts. Twice. May spray them for several days and then wire brush all of them before trying to get them moving. I'd like to get all those off and then see if I want a new cross-member...- David13

2011 oil filter removal help
Mine was very loose as well, and probably leaking at least a little. The problem I see with the pump idea is that you are not going to get the dregs, the lowest part of the oil where the sludge might form or lay. The pump might only suck liquid, and the sludge is more of a paste, an ooze... -

Yes, my mistake in not correcting that. I actually thought it was the transfer case mount, but after looking I realize it was under the trans, not the trans case. It's actually mid ship. It's under the doors. I have since found that they call a part under the front bumper (or so) a...- David13

I don't know that I have ever seen bolts from a car factory (which I think those are) to have numbers on them. I could be wrong. I may be able to find the same bolts in a hardware store. With the number 8. I'm going to just let it ride at this time. I need to get back to the transfer case...- David13

Well, I poked the crossmember with an ice pick. All very sold metal. Only surface rust. However, I have had a problem with what it might take to get it out. The 4 bolts coming down from the transmission mount are quite rusty. No idea if they would come off without breaking or coming loose...- David13

The population of Lincoln county is 5,000 people. They may well have no tow companies out there. No junkyards, etc. That's why they will have to go into Henderson. Or elsewhere. Same here. Rural counties with few people and no services, no big stores, etc. It's all growing but still...- David13

I have gone thru' the parts catalog and that is the right number for the crossmember. But I don't see the bolts. There is no index on the parts list. Just 520 pages to thumb thru' to try to find anything. dc- David13

Front Crossmember
There is also some type of bracket or such that sits under the transfer case on the crossmember. It has 3 or 4 bolts coming downward into the crossmember at the center point. That looks to have no rust on it, but the bolts are quite rusty. There I only want to replace the bolts. dc- David13
