Well, I think for those of us that want to modify a KJ, we've already done it. I mean, I can't seem to get anyone interested in my used set of OME 927's *shrug* just the way it goes
In theory I like General Grabbers, but the grabber ATP had zero siping below 2/32". They also had almost no open space in the tread design so I'd expect poor offroad grip. And, my experience with General is that they don't use a compound suitable for wet traction. My RT43s were downright...
Personally I think even a fairly built kj isn’t well suited to rock crawling, so I don’t see the need for a LT rated AT tire. On the other hand, not having a true AT tire is also a mistake, If you want to at least occasionally play in the soft stuff. There’s a sweet spot there and I think P...
Gently used (less than 1k miles) set of OME 927 HD springs, about 1 year old. Had to upgrade to the CRD OMEs to support winch install.
$100 + split shipping with buyer. Set in northern CA.
Just curious as to who is running what out there for the KJ. I had Cooper Discovery AT3 4S as 235/75/16 on OEM alloy rims and I'm switching out for something else. The snow traction disappeared as the tires wore. Noticed that the siping is really shallow and going for something with full depth...
Hey Tom sorry about my late reply. Yes, maybe 1500 miles. Been installed but only wheeled once. Mostly just sat in the kj to see if I liked the stance.
That's a good idea, actually. I think the deal is that I lost about 1/16-1/8" in the pockets because the previous set had smaller (width) bushings by that much. But however you decide to do it, if you have the same issue then they aren't going in without a serious fight and even after opening...
If the bushing breaks and it will, just depends on time, then the cable's eyelet end will still be looped around the arm (TC shifter will feel loose but still work). If that cable eyelet has slipped off the TC shifter arm then it won't do anything. And if your TC was in a gear at the time, then...
I've done it this way at least 6x's by now. It works like a charm and makes the whole assembly process soooooo easy. Its' basically the equivalent of a knuckle separator tool but works oppositely. Do what you guys want, but it's super easy, only spreads the clevis by an extra 1/8" (and HOLDS it)...
No. I'm referring to the flange on the cat itself that the clamp uses to bolt onto the exhaust manifold.
I tried to see if it could be repaired with a weld and that was unfeasible so I bit the bullet and bought a new 50 state legal cat. It wasn't fun installing.
Hi all. Weird thing, got a nasty exhaust leak at the drivers side v band clamp / catalytic converter area that I finally got around to fixing and (surprise!) after pulling it apart, I realized that the cat v band flange has cracked about 1/2 through. Since I’m in ca, a new carb compliant...
Update. 927s held fairly stable under detours and winch but started to sag a bit, about 1/2” and started to nose down a bit. Getting bigger spacers was a possibility to get front height back but they were about as expensive as new ome springs. So decided to get jba uca and the heavier 790...
Wondering the same thing with cv axles on a lifted kJ with jba ucas. They’re made by trakmotive and seem like a reasonable upgrade considering the additional articulation
I was shown a neat trick with the clevis: using a ball joint separator and the clevis bolt half-way threaded in, pinch half of the clevis and half the bolt head. It will easily open up the joint and allow easy installation.
