    AZ September Trip

Chiricahua Run! An easy run (Pinery Canyon Road) with several side trips of varying difficulty. Precise route subject to whimsy, but will almost certainly include portions of Hands Pass and Barfoot Park trails (Massey & Wilson South 21 and 23 respectively) Date: 09/15 Time: Meet at 08:30, on...

    Chivo Falls, 08/19/07 Pictures

No, in fact at the time I didn't even know there was a way up there. Probably a good thing anyway, since as we were airing back up in the parking lot the thunder boomers were moving in.

    Chivo Falls, 08/19/07 Pictures

The folks over at L.O.S.T. put together a run to Chivo Falls (just northeast of Tucson). My theme song for this run was "Hit The Skids" by Local H. The new AllJ rails proved their worth, and even the gas tank skid took a hit or two. Casey takes the "easy" line while Dan goes the hard way...

    AZ KJcountry AUGUST TRIP 2.0

Very cool pics people. We were kinda disappointed with ours, but: We didn't have to eat all that much dust: Some of the scenery: Lifted, Not Lifted, Lifted, Not Lifted, Not Lifted... Russ & Mary

    Mt. Lemmon Control Road Run

The first time I did the control road, we stopped just below the mine about halfway up (the gates were locked). While we were there a Hyundai Sonata and a Kia something-or-other came driving up. Slowly and carefully. It's not difficult, just bouncy. I'm going to have to do it again soon so I...

    Badlands attica IN 8-12

I second Corwyyn's vote on the Front-End-Coming-Over-The-Rise picture. I must now steal that idea and try to create my own version. Russ

    Mt. Lemmon Control Road Run

Yes, it should be noted that the side trail was a lot steeper than it looks in these pictures.

    Mt. Lemmon Control Road Run

o8k, Corwyyn, and I ran the Mt. Lemmon Control Road - nothing much to speak of, but it's very bouncy to settle in o8k's newly installed Frankenlift springs on the CRD. Very heavy springs. A little ways up we stopped for a landscape photo op, right in front of a hill with a trail that went up...

Okay, I'll shoot to be at the Circle-K by 9:30 tomorrow morning.

    scouting trip this weekend anyone?

Well I can get you directions: Take I-10 outta Phoenix, get on 387 (before Casa Grande) going east toward Florence. 387 T's into 87 after maybe ten miles or so, turn right (southish) and continue on to Florence. 87 turns off south before you get to Florence, ignore it and stay on what is now...

    Wrangler MT/Rs and gas mileage

Thanks AJ, all fine and reasonable arguments. I'm thinking that when it comes right down to the actual decision, however, it'll be what Mary calls the "parking lot intimidation" factor that will sell the deal. We'll see if rational thought will prevail, but, ya know, they just look cool. Russ

    Wrangler MT/Rs and gas mileage

Do the MT/Rs get substantially lower gas mileage, or do they wear really fast on the highway? Is it worth hanging on to a second set of wheels for long road trips? Thanks in advance, Russ

    scouting trip this weekend anyone?

2 1/2 hours if you come down 79, instead of coming down I-10 and going up from Tucson. But yeah, it's still a hike. Feel free to say no.

    scouting trip this weekend anyone?

Sunday works. We're headed for Oracle - say the western end of American Ave where it comes off 77, there's a Circle-K about a block down American. My map says that it's 2000 W American. Pick a time. Probably take you two hours to get there from way over where you're coming from.

    scouting trip this weekend anyone?

Mt Lemmon would certainly help to settle your springs - it's an easy run but very bumpy, about 5 miles of dirt road and about 20 miles of bouncy bouncy bouncy. We could run it up, then turn around and run it back down.

    scouting trip this weekend anyone?

Patagonia Mountains (Well2 #75, Massey & Wilson South #12) has been on my list for a while as well, and it has a lot of built-in options. Most of what I've read leads me to believe it's mostly just a dirt road. Neon-able, as I like to say, but there are many side trails as I understand it...

    scouting trip this weekend anyone?

We'll see, but I could be in. You're backyard is quite a ways from my backyard, and I still gotta make drawers for the bathroom cabinet, but I could get away for a day. Are we talking Wickenburg area?

    Yet more Frankenlift questions

I'll avoid the dragster look thanks. Now the only question I have to answer is if I'm willing to void my nice powertrain warranty.
