 Um...I got to inquire why my Latitude isn't coming up on the Jeep owner's site as needing the recall. Mine was the first shipments of Latitudes the dealer received when I got it and i know it is an earlier 07.
WOOT! So the dipstick is the same! Very cool to know.
Thanks for the info about the part suffix. I'm wondering if the top of the filler tube is different - threaded for the plastic dealer use only cap and that is the change requiring a different letter suffix?
My 07 has a good amount of throttle delay, identical to another 07 I've driven. However, I'm used to it now.
I talked to a gentleman from Friendly's parts dept -- he says the 2007 filler tube for the transmission has the same part NUMBER as the 2006, but the LETTERS at the end are different and...
Maybe it is with the remote keys. I assume by strattec key you mean a non-remote key, correct? If i wasn't broke, I'd order a replacement remote key and try it on mine just to see. Interesting issue...
Some of the earlier-released chrysler ignition locks had this problem. There was a TSB a while back for Grand Cherokees (somewhere in the realm of 99-01ish). Doesn't mean it can't happen on a liberty.
Just make sure your key isn't worn looking (any brass showing on the blade of the key...
I too mentioned a few times in this thread I programmed a key no problem on my 07. Granted mine was a non-remote key, but this is irrelevant to the issue.
Maybe we should start looking at build dates for the vehicles? This is getting crazy :p
Taken from a 2007-specific original Strattec manual:
Keys:
Liberty 2005-08
Strattec#: 692352 Prog: OBP-6 Code-Seeker OEM: 05134937AA
Strattec#: 692960 Prog: OBP-6 Code-Seeker OEM: 05134937AA
692352 is the non-remote keyblank for 2005 through 2008 Jeeps (Patriot, Liberty, GC, etc)...
I find this hard to believe. I'll check into this issue, but the key I ordered is designed for 05-07 Liberty vehicles and is a Strattec blank (the OEM supplier of the locksets).
Again, I programmed the non-remote key for my 07 with zero issues, and didn't even know where the SKIS light was. The key having a remote has no bearing on programming. Mine is an early 07 - I got one of the first Latitude editions produced. Maybe yours are later models and something changed...
Did you get the key with integrated fob? Got a pic? There are a few versions of that fob that look similar. Post one up and I'll see if I see anything out of the ordinary.
I threw out my directions w/the key, but I checked first and they matched the manual's instructions. Like I said, I didn't know where the SKIS light was so I just ballparked times and mine worked great.
Did you actually try starting the jeep with the new key yet?
My 03 Grand Cherokee light worked exactly as the manual said (same procedure). The light flashed. I assumed it would flash on the Libby as well, thus why I personally was expecting the flashing.
But like I said, try it just by the timings they state in the manual (or online or wherever). It...
I bought a regular Sentry key (w/out fob) for my 07 latitude. I couldn't figure out where the SKIS light was (didn't read the manual first ) so I just ballparked the times for each step. My key programmed fine. I guarantee you though the little red light on the bottom left (SKIS light)...
