Custom spring compressor/ llift install aid

Hi Tony Sorry I missed the comment on the coil release. I agree, do not use the puller to release the coil! I am building a 3 stud puller for the purpose, top & bottom plate with appropriate holes and 3 long high tensile rods 120 deg apart, This will keep everything in a straight line. Selwyn

Custom spring compressor/ llift install aid

Hi Tony The first post shows the 2 hook system, loosen the upper mount clip the hooks between the upper mount and the body, fasten the upper mount clamping the hooks, compress the spring, remove the clevis, release the spring and remove. This also works 100%. The third option is to weld the...

Custom spring compressor/ llift install aid

Spring Compresser Hi I suggest that we start a new post on methods to compress the front coils in order to make fitting the coil overs an easy task. After all the good wishes, the final product for comment! None of the puller components are loaded to anywhere near their breaking strain or...

    2" budget boost from TeraFlex

Hi Hotmamali If everything is tight you are most probabily hearing the upper ball joint hitting the coil spring, lift the front end both sides, suspension at full droop, check for contact between the inner side of the balljoint and the coil spring. Wrap a piece of rubber round the balljoint and...

Custom spring compressor/ llift install aid

Strange! I'd love to know how you lift an engine out of a vehicle - a block and tackle with the same piece of chain and a high tensile bolt or 2 holding a bracket. A computer programme simulating stress indicates that the tension on the thread goes red first! After 1500kg - way beyond the...

Custom spring compressor/ llift install aid

Hi Boiler A suggestion: Add 2 ears to the shim; make provision for a spring compressor, the attached photos are a prototype, weld the ears onto the shim. I have more detail if you are interested. Regards Selwyn Johannesburg South Africa

Did I read this right? 1/2 inch clevis lift.

Hi Tony The KK clevis is 1/2" longer than the KJ clevis = 1" of lift (this also assists with clearance on the short shaft CV boot of the CRD) The additional nuts above the clevis 1/2" max = 1" of lift The spacer above the upper shock mounting 3/8" = 3/4 " of lift Take a bit on the...

Did I read this right? 1/2 inch clevis lift.

Hi Uncle Crusty The KK Clevis plus conduit nuts gives close to 2" lift at minimal cost. Add a 3/8 spacer plate or 4 3/8 machined washers above the shock mounting; 2" plus of lift. Any change on the clevis does not change the bumpstop length. I ran this setup for 6 months without any problems...

attempted the clevis lift today no luck...

Opening the Clevis made easy: Turn the clevis bolt in from the wrong side, place a piece of metal or spanner between the clevis lugs covering the bolt hole, tighten the bolt lightly onto the metal surface, this opens the clevis for easy movement on the shock assembly. Regards.

    just did a clevis lift

Hi from South Africa. Price the KK clevis at the dealership. The clevis is 10mm longer than the KJ clevis, the lips on the clevis are on the opposite sides of the fork, they do the same job. Once installed you have a guaranteed 20 mm lift.
