Over the (many) years of changing oil I've seen around 10 new filters with the loose gaskets, the majority of them being Fram. Now the gasket is the FIRST thing I check before prefilling the filter.
Sounds like either Discount didn't program them, or they're just the wrong sensor. I personally wouldn't touch one of those universal types. If I have to have sensors, (and I'd rather not...I really don't like that system) it'll be Schrader OE for me every time. No programming required.
