Does OME/Rancho lift NEED new UCAs?

Based on all the threads I've surfed regarding replacing/upgrading the suspension, it is agreed that OME springs are the way to go when replacing springs. My stock suspension is at 60K and starting to feel like it. It would be nice to replace the stock springs with OME springs and get a little...

Need new brake pads and rotors... help to buy

I actually just did my front brakes (pads and rotors) and found out I need to do my rear brakes. I went to rockauto.com for the parts. All told, two front rotors and two sets of pads (yes, I ordered an extra set, quite by accident. ONE set contains the pads needed for TWO wheels) came to $184...

    Turkey 1 Jeep 0

Wouldn't it be more like: Turkey 1, Jeep 2? I mean, the turkey did some damage to your jeep, but isn't it a classic example of "you should see the other guy"? I'm sure he got the worst of it.

    Shifting Column Issue

This happened in my wife's 98 escort. Never seemed to be any kind of problem, you just had to know which gear you were in without looking.

    Confused about suspension parts

That's what I thought, but I'm still confused as to why there would be two separate parts listed, one under "shock absorbers", one under "strut assembly". I got the part numbers mixed up in my OP. Strut listed is Rancho RSX17505 and shock listed is RS5764.

    Confused about suspension parts

OK, I thought I had this all figured out, went to place an order at Rockauto.com and got very confused. Does the 04 liberty sport have front shocks AND struts? Rockauto.com lists front shocks as RSX5704 and front struts as RS17000. I was under the impression it was struts up front shocks in...

    unmodified Liberty/KJ

You don't have to feel bad at all, I'm in a very similar position. I got my '04 sport in Aug 2007 and haven't done any mods...yet. I've always wanted to be a "car guy" and know how to do maintenance and upgrades myself, lacked the cash and resources. I started out REALLY easy doing oil...

    Fuel grade - 3.7KJ

FYI- Owner's manual says (regarding fuel grade to use): Mid-grade (89 octane) will give better performance under the following conditions: towing, high temperature, hilly terrain, low humidity

    Seat Upholstery

Another option if you want leather is to search your local junkyards for KJs with leather seats that have been junked. Yank the whole seat and install in yours.

    Fuel grade - 3.7KJ

The only time higher octane (89) is recommended is when under load (towing) or operating at consistent high heat (90+ degrees F)

    Doing a replacement/upgrade

And if needed, any known sites/catalogs I could order from?

    Doing a replacement/upgrade

I'm thinking of replacing my shocks, struts, springs on my stock KJ. Haven't decided between OME or Rancho components yet. Besides those specific replacement parts, are there any additional things I am likely to need to work on/replace, or might as well just replace since I'll be in there anyway?

    Winter driving

2wd is ridiculous in the snow/sleet/ice. Once I put it in 4-full time though, it's fine, no problems. If you go to the tire sub section on here you'll notice lots of threads discussing how crappy the stock tires are, and which ones are better choices.

    "Most important" for wheeling?

OK, the skids from skidrow look great, but are easily 2x more expensive than the skids at Jparts. Are they really that different? The information offered at Jparts is minimal at best (it says "constructed of heavy gauge steel", doesn't say what thickness) whereas skidrow gives full...

    "Most important" for wheeling?

Thanks for all the replies. It appears the popular vote is skids. Can most of them simply be bolted right in place, or do they generally require drilling/welding/etc.?

    "Most important" for wheeling?

Assuming they all cost around the same (approx. $600), what will give the best enhancement from bone stock: New tires, 2.5" lift, or full skids? I can't do all of them, but I want the best off-road ability for the money. Which of those choices are the best to start with?

    stock radio/speaker wattage?

Does anyone know what the stock 6 CD changer and stock speakers are rated at for maximum output?

    4-part time vs. 4-full time

Yes, I've read the owner's manual about HOW to engage them/disengage them etc. I'm still unclear though about when/why you would use part time 4wd instead of full time?

    235/75/16?

I have read several threads about maximum tire size that will fit on a stock KJ without rubbing. I don't want to go up to a 245 width, but possibly up from a 70 to 75 sidewall height. Anyone done the switch? I know it throws the speedo by a couple percent, but that really doesn't bother me...
