Front driveshaft regiment issue after new cv joint

Leave the driveshaft completely out & see if that loose cap will fit back in the transfer case yoke . If it will , the cap , joint & all should fit in the yoke . If it won't , something is too big . When I did my shaft , the only way I could get it out was to pry the transfer case joint forward...

    Is This Acceptable?

I wish a cat would get the dang robins that keep fighting themselves in my mirrors & crapping all over everything .

Bought a non-working '02 Liberty, where to start?

I'd offer $1,500 if everything checked out . Worst thing that could happen is he'd say no . Should be a really good engine with that low of mileage . Is the vehicle wrecked or what ? Never mind , I clicked on the link , doubt being a salvage yard would come down .

Another question on driveshaft cv replacement

I couldn't get the new band that came with mine tight either . I reused the original band & it went back on good & tight . I would think a zip tie would be fine though .

Got a new battery...what does JKJ think?

The green eye Delco I referred to came in a new GM car I bought . Wonder if they're available over the counter somewhere ? If they are , wonder if they're still made by the same company ?

Got a new battery...what does JKJ think?

Isn't it strange how people have different experiences with brand names . By far the worst experiences I've had with batteries was with Interstate . Most other batteries I've bought give me reasonable service . Best battery I've ever had was one of those Delco's with the green eye . That battery...

One with 100,000 should be good for quite a while if it's been taken care of & had regular oil changes etc .

Bought a non-working '02 Liberty, where to start?

Salvage yards usually give some kind of warranty , not on your labor , but on their parts . Make sure you get one from the correct year model to save yourself a lot of work & money . Also the lower the mileage on the engine usually the better . Not long ago I bought a sharp 05 for cheap that...

Bought a non-working '02 Liberty, where to start?

Does this friend have a salvage yard or something ? Seems strange he has the engine you need & willing to put it in for that price . If this is a legitimate deal I'd jump on it but no money would change hands until I had a properly running jeep . The price is dirt cheap . I see you edited your...

Bought a non-working '02 Liberty, where to start?

The OP has an 02 & the craigslist ad is for an 04 . That means a teardown of the engine to swap reluctor rings . The crankshaft has to come completely out to accomplish this . Also the timing chain & the gear on the camshaft has to come off . I have read a few disagreements pertaining to 04...

Bought a non-working '02 Liberty, where to start?

Replacing your engine will not cause you to have a salvage title . You won't be able to tell if your heads are good by just removing the valve covers . At 160,000 miles they would need rebuilt before installing on another engine regardless . In my opinion you need another complete engine whether...

Bought a non-working '02 Liberty, where to start?

Yes , the cam covers & valve covers are the same thing . Once they are removed you'll be able to see the camshafts , rocker arms , valve springs & each camshaft will have a gear on the front end of it that the timing chains runs around . As far as working space to remove the crankshaft pulley ...

Bought a non-working '02 Liberty, where to start?

Autozone & Advance Auto Parts in my area rent tools such as the puller you need to remove the pulley off the front of the crankshaft . The deal works like this , you pay for the tool & when you return it they give you all your money back . It doesn't cost you anything .
