    That's funny that everyone's "thump" is different...some when they start to go again and some when they come to rest. Mine is when it comes to rest...not once I hit the gas...so still no idea why, just that it isn't a problem...I hope.

    okay. i haven't noticed the abruptness of the stops when it happens...I'll pay more attention to it though...but if no one thinks it's a major issue that makes me have one less thing to worry about.

    no, it doesn't feel like it wants to move...it feels more like the back end is settling into a groove or slipping down into a crack...kind of hard to explain lol. If anything the movement feels more reverse than forward.

    There is a weird, noticeable thump when the jeep comes to a stop. I'm not sure how to explain when it happens, but it's like the split second the jeep settles back after coming to a complete stop. You can even kind of feel it as well...maybe bad differential mounts, or something to do with...

    okay, that helps...because right now there is no shake at all in the steering wheel, it is just the pulsing in the pedal. I'll start with the rear ones and then if that doesn't fix it move on to the front. Thanks for your help!

    Well, that limited one fell thru so we ended up getting a 2003 sport. auto, part time awd. My fiance loves it so that's all that matters. Just have to do some research on how the part time awd system works. Thanks for all your help though!

    How do I look for water pump trouble...Chances are I'll get the 3.7 Auto V6. How is the timing belt on these? I've had trouble with other cars I've had. Is this a belt or chain? What should I look for when inspecting the front end and ball joints?
