Take battery out. Drop the fob in rice for a week or place it under a warm bulb for several days. I don't know of any components in a fob that would be ruined if wet. Dry it out properly and then pop in a new battery.

Good luck with the surgery. You know, many people on here recommend driving your Jeep regularly and "blowing the carbon out" once a week.... If you are going to be laid up for several months maybe we could all take turns driving it. Just to keep it in tip top shape of course. ;)
