    Finally Bought My Liberty !!!

*EDIT: And your Jeep should have come with a little mirror hang card about the 4wd system. I used that the first few times so I was sure I was doing it correctly. No hang card in mine. Also didn't get any pin# or key code that the instruction manual said I should have received.

    Finally Bought My Liberty !!!

I forgot to mention I have a manual transmission. Not sure if that makes a difference. I read the link you provided so I sort of get it. Is this correct: I'm going 40 mph for example in 4th gear. While staying in 4th gear just pull the handle towards me. I'm now in 4-HI. Do I need to...

    Finally Bought My Liberty !!!

Command-Trac Question: I want to try out the 4-wheel drive on some forest roads this weekend, but after reading the manual and looking at the lever I don't get it, so I'm afraid to pull it. Can someone please explain how to go from 2WD to 4-HI? I'm afraid I'll break something or...

    Finally Bought My Liberty !!!

I've been researching for way way way too long, but last night I finally bought one. Got a 2007 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4, Manual, Inferno Red. No additional options. Paid $18,500 including all fees. Not too sure if that's a good deal or not, but it seemed pretty good. Invoice was $19,279...

Manual vs Auto - Fuel Rating

Do you work for Jeep marketing ? O:) By coasting do you mean you put it in neutral when going downhill or do you mean something else? I was almost ready go to the dealer and made the mistake of reading Consumer Reports at the bookstore and it said they got 10mpg in the city, 15mpg average...

Manual vs Auto - Fuel Rating

If I get one today should I have the dealer put skid plates on it, or are they only needed for serious rock crawling?

Manual vs Auto - Fuel Rating

Will the manual really get almost the exact same mileage as the auto? Every other vehicle I look at there is a substantial difference. Just wondering because I'm thinking of buying a 2007 Liberty w/ Manual, but I just got done checking the mileage on my GMC truck I currently have which I...

    Comparing Trail-Rated Liberty w/ Trail-Rated Patriot

I don't care about cargo space though. Just interested in the performance, quality of product.

    Comparing Trail-Rated Liberty w/ Trail-Rated Patriot

I am going insane. I promise I'll never ask again. Here are my choices and the final prices I could probably get close to: Trail-Rated Patriot: $18,000 Sport 4WD No Additional Options Trail-Rated Liberty: $18,000 (probably a great deal) Sport 4WD No Additional Options I test drove...

    Comparing Trail-Rated Liberty w/ Trail-Rated Patriot

Do you know why the estimated gas mileage of the Trail-Rated Patriot would be less than the regular AWD Patriot? It doesn't sound like the weight is too much; is something else different that would impact gas? Regular: 23/26 Trail-Rated: 21/23

    Comparing Trail-Rated Liberty w/ Trail-Rated Patriot

This is a tough decision. I now think I would rather have the trail-rated Patriot. It will give me the AWD that I want because I live in Portland Oregon where it rains a lot and the roads get slick. I want to be able to drive to Mt Hood in the winter and it would be good in snow. I want to...

    Comparing Trail-Rated Liberty w/ Trail-Rated Patriot

The trail-rated Patriot has a low gear 19:1. How does that compare to the Liberty which I think is 30:1? I have no 4WD experience, so I'm just trying to get some ideas. Can you give me an example of where the Liberty could go, but the Patriot could not?

4-Hi.....How Do U Know When Safe To Use?

Good answer. Are there any options I should definitely get? I won't be hardcore offroading, just forest roads, logging roads.

4-Hi.....How Do U Know When Safe To Use?

Do you think $18,000 is a good deal for a 2007 Sport 4WD w/ no options added?

4-Hi.....How Do U Know When Safe To Use?

I still don't get it. What does it mean for the wheels to bind up? Can it be activated on any dirt road? Does it have to have specific conditions? I'm afraid if I buy this thing, I'm going to ruin it. It sounds like you can only turn the 4WD at optimal times. My grandma lived on a dirt...

    Comparing Trail-Rated Liberty w/ Trail-Rated Patriot

After looking at the review of the Patriot at Expeditions West and looking at the specs, the Patriot seems to be a better deal for the majority of people. Maybe the Liberty is better for the hard-core offroader, but it seems like you would have to search pretty hard for a section of road that...

4-Hi.....How Do U Know When Safe To Use?

I haven't bought my Liberty yet, so still have questions. You can't activate 4WD on the dry highway. I don't understand why turning onto a dry dirt road makes it ok all of a sudden. How do u know when it's ok to activate without breaking it? Wet road? Firm Dirt Road? Loose Gravel Road...

    Comparing Trail-Rated Liberty w/ Trail-Rated Patriot

Ok. I have no 4WD experience, so I am having trouble making a choice. I'm now looking at the non trail-rated Patriot vs. Liberty 4WD. Patriot is front-wheel drive unless loss of traction then it is auto AWD. It also has a lock mode to lock 50/50 front & back equivalent to 4 wheel drive...

    2007 Jeep Liberty Purchase.....Should I do it?

I found this blurb about the recall, but still not a definite answer: Chrysler has changed the design and material used in the Liberty's suspension since the initial safety recall. NHTSA is looking at that recall to determine if the changes and modifications solved the ball joint problem in...
