The VM 425 and VM428 lumps were fitted to the FX4 London Taxis, replacing the Nissan 2.7. The service schedule goes up to 400k miles and the average life span is 440k miles before recon. Service intervals are every 10k which in taxi mileage is about 5 weeks.
It's been a somewhat moist winter here (however all the reservoirs are now back up to 100%) and I've been through plenty of floods and standing water the past few months which I doubt will have helped.
Today I have become mostly fed up with my 'oil warning' chime and light coming on at random intervals and have resolved to do something about it. Is this light linked to oil the pressure sensor or the oil temperature sensor? 05 2.8 CRD auto.
Today I booked the Magic Frog in for a new timing belt / water pump (2.8 CRD). It had a new belt at 50k and that was 7 years ago according to receipts. Decided that at 100k I would have it replaced and am now 500 miles off that. Is there anything else that should be done while there is access...
Today I have been mostly dealing with an insurance claim against me/my Jeep for an accident that apparently happened a few weeks ago. It has been quite a traumatic introduction to the world of insurance claims in the UK. It has been alleged that I drove my Jeep into the side of a car in a well...
I buy the Blue Print stuff, (including the brake shoes) never had a problem with their products with both Trooper and Jeep. All service items/consumables - filters and the like.

Will do. It seems intermittent. Trouble is everytime its making the noise is when I arrive at a farmyard, and the ground is not conducive to laying down to get under for a listen. (I put that politely but think slurry!)
Today my Jeep developed a squeaky kind of noise from the front left suspension on compression and release. I need to pin point it tomorrow, wondering if it might be the UCA.
Thank you! This is the approach I have been thinking of, have some stainless possibly earmarked for the job which already has pressed lightening holes in.
My Jeep is back on the road with a new serpentine belt, tensioner, idler pulleys and power steering pump which was a bit of a falling dominos scenario. And a new thermostat! Temp is now a knats **** off vertical and holding 90 degrees on the laser scanner in sub zero (C) wind-chill. I've taken...
