Front Brakes Replaced. Braking Is Worse

I fully agree with all of the above. My first thought was that they used some very poor quality pads, but when the OP talks about the pedal being on the floor and the Jeep still rolling, I believe that something else is wrong.

Adding a little bit of trans fluid to oil

Wow, where do you get this stuff? ATF+4 is a highly friction-modified (HFM) ATF, while Type F actually has no friction modifiers. (Dexron is somewhere in the middle.) That's why Type F in, say, a 727TF will provide very firm shifts: no FM, so very little slippage. Also, whether using a...

Adding a little bit of trans fluid to oil

No, you've got it backwards. Little to no detergent in ATF. Dispersants, yes; detergent, no. Don't believe me? Call the tech hotline of your favorite oil company and ask.

    joint in front driveshaft

On our '06 Libby, the rear joint in the front driveshaft is shot. Has anyone rebuilt this using the Dorman kit? Any tips/advice appreciated!

    front axle/driveshaft noise

'06 Libby 3.7/auto. When in 4x4, there is a noise that is somewhere between whirring and growling. It is most noticable when accelerating moderately; light acceleration produces a lesser noise, and I can barely hear it when coasting. Do you think this is most likely a joint in the driveshaft...

    New Jeep, new issues

What was the code? If it was for random misfires not related to fuel or ignition, try some Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner. Spray it slowly in the throttle body while the engine is idling hot. Then immediately shut it off and let it sit for a couple hours. After that, take it out, warm it...

I have to ask... why HOAT and not reg. antifreeze

Yeah, not much choice in an emergency. Any coolant is better than no coolant, and IMHO, you probably won't see any problems with short-term use. It's not like any gaskets are going to get eaten overnight; more like over a few years from long-term use. Just flush it out like you have planned...

    O2 sensors

I would only replace the upstream sensors, unless a downstream sensor is throwing a code. The upstreams affect the fuel trim, while the downstreams are only there to make sure the cat is working.

I have to ask... why HOAT and not reg. antifreeze

Most of these are OAT Dex-clones. Many contain 2-EH, which is a known plasticizer (softens plastics). This can be harmful to some types of gaskets. Two common all makes/models (AMM) formulas which contain 2-EH are Prestone AMM and Peak long life. If I was going to use a universal, I'd use...

I have to ask... why HOAT and not reg. antifreeze

I believe that Dexacool is from the same company that makes Dextron ATF and Mobile 1 oil.

Look at the black plastic cover/plug. If it has a battery on it, it's constant. If it has a key on it, it's switched.

    Valve replacement how-to? Help Troubleshoot?

Paul M, I was curious about the price, too. I checked a couple of the online Chrysler parts dealers, and they show a list price of $690, so $410 would be a steep discount. If he can get that kind of discount, good for him, but they are never going to give you a discount on a part when they...
