In the end changing out the fluid did not work. My rack is bad and I am white knuckle driving it until Friday when my new rack will be here. Anyone who puts power steering fluid in and it gets circulated for for a couple of weeks will be looking at replacing the rack. This sucks!!!
I went ahead and replaced them anyway. Drives much better now. I will be doing the UCA, and rear bushings next. My only question is do you have to set the KJ at its normal ride hight before tightening the bushings so you don`t preload them?
The underside is in good shape. I had it undercoated when I bought it with that clear 3M stuff. Im impressed with it. I guess I can also apply heat to the control arm to help the bushings along.
Anyone think a 12 Ton Press would be enough to press out lower control arm bushings and ball joints. I don`t want to buy one and it not be enough. I will be replacing most of my bushings front and back.
Can someone tell me what the spindle nut size is? 05 Lib. I cant remember if it is 32 or 35mm. Or what American standard size is close enough to get it off.
Thanks!
I went Youtube and saw a couple of vids on high lift jack issues. They break/slip when bringing the vehicle down. Is this something that was on older high lift jacks or is this still a current problem?
How do you check to see if the LCA bushings are bad? Should the LCA slide Fwd and Aft on the bushings. Driver's side does but passenger side not so much.
I have very shifty/loose steering issues. Everything seems tight.
This is probably a dumb question but I don`t see where you can use the High Lift jack on the Libby. Can anyone explain where you place them to lift the vehicle? (or post a pic). I would be interested in getting one to replace the POS stock jack.
Well I just flushed everything out a couple of times and will hope for the best. I am beginning to think my sloppy steering is my coil springs. The front is really wobbly when you push it from the side back and forth. Very bouncy. I just put in new rancho struts but the springs are what provide...
Sorry. I did mean regular power steering fluid. I did it a couple of months ago and I am now getting a loose drifting feeling in my steering. I was not aware until a couple of weeks ago that ATF+4 was what we use nowadays. I have checked all the ball joints, inner & outer tie rods, and bushings...
That's a negative on the large dirt particles. I pull the throttle body off every few months to check it and it's clean as can be. I don't live on any dirt roads and mine is a mall crawler anyway (I should have stated that from the beginning). As silly as it may sound it does work. I don't feel...
Save yourself the money and just take the air filter out and get two ankle high pairs of black pantie hose. Stretch them over the intake hose at the filter housing connection and put the hose back on. You will see a definite increase in mpg. Ive been running mine this way for a couple of years...
Engines today are built with much tighter tolerances than engines twenty years ago. That is the main reason 5W-30 is recommended. When cold the heavier weight will take longer to get to the moving parts and can cause premature wear. In hotter climates 10W-30 wont really harm anything.
I will be installing OME Medium Duty Springs and want to know how much more difficult it is going to be to compress the springs with my manual spring compressor than it was doing the stock springs. Anyone here have experience with this.
Consumer reports did a test in 2006 on motor oils. Pretty much any oil that has the Starburst symbol on the container will perform with the same results. Additives are useless, and oil does not necessarily need to be changed every 3000 miles. Synthetic oils only save the consumer from having to...
