Spacer Lift will be your doom!

Actually, most lifts do not have any problems. Without a new top-plate or OTT spacer you will not have any of these problems. Rustys Spring lift, OME lift , etc.. none of them have the ubj contact problem. And the UBJ contact problem can be resolved with a lower bumpstop. The UBJ...

    ubj and spring contact

Let us know how it turns out. Rusty's OTT is the same as Rocky Roads OTT, which is know for the same problems. Unless something is changed I don't see it helping much. But let us know with some pictures of the UBJs.

    235-85-16 will it fit

Yes, but will probably need to do some trimming. A few people on the lost board run that size on their KJ. Just as tall as the 265/75/16, but being narrow will probably reduce some of the rubbing. Please post some result when you do try it out. I'd be interested to know along with couple...

Need lift now...bought new tires/wheels and they don't fit!

Install is fairly straight forward. Its basically a remove and replace type job, instructions and helpful for a first timer, but not necessary. You will need a decent set of tool though. Probably need to take it to a shop to have the springs compressed in unless you have a spring compressor...

Need lift now...bought new tires/wheels and they don't fit!

Rusty's coil spring lift is the best bang for the buck. You get alot for the price. New struts and shocks, plus new springs. You will most likely want new shocks after a lift, because of the increased height. New struts are not necessary but make for a nicer ride. Once you start adding new...

    Noisy Front Suspension

Just FYI, both me and moose have modified our Frankenlifts. I've lowered mine and Moose had to add bumpstop to fix the UBJ problem. For being a kit sold to average users it shouldn't have these problems. Alot of people do not know where to start or look for these problems. They maybe...

    Noisy Front Suspension

I was tentative to post this due to some strong feelings, but here it is anyways. I've installed 3 frankenlifts and 3 rustys lifts. If you are looking to just set it and forget then Rusty's is the way to go. Every Frankenlift has had problems. Too high, UBJ contact, etc. Only thing that was...

    Noisy Front Suspension

Sounds like some upper ball joint contact with the springs. Put a jack under the front and let the front suspension droop and take a look.

PowerTrax no-slip..I may have a problem

It's really hard to say what happened without looking at it. I've installed a handful of these, but never experienced your problem, but I'm always careful in my install. However, I've been told that if you don't line up the paddle spacer in the correct slot inside the syncro ring and the...

PowerTrax no-slip..I may have a problem

Sounds like something is wrong to me. Mine definitely does not do that. I suspect the dog teeth on one side are slipping. Every time it slips and hooks up again it makes a pop. Alot of time people confuse the pop with the dog teeth not wanting to disengage, when in fact it is the opposite...

    moog lbj instead of original

Take the Jeep to your local mechanic and stay away from the dealer. The labor rate is cheaper and he will be able to just install the MOOGs so don't have to pay two labor bills.

    Recall and Control Arm Question

Sounds likes they just wanted to some extra money. Its a solid chunk of cast iron, not sure how it would wear out.

poor drainage = flooding = fun with the libby

I guess, but there is a white plastic weather seal under the plastic trim if you ever pull it off. Did get me out of there pretty quick, but it was still probably a good a minute or two of sitting in water well above the bottom of the doors. I was expecting worst. I'm not sure if much or any...

poor drainage = flooding = fun with the libby

Actually i was quite surprised when I had mine underwater last trip. I though it would have started leaking worst. Only got a tad bit of water inside. Half of came from me crawling back in dripping wet. It was well past the door seals, that is why I crawled out the window to get the strap.

new lift now i hear clunk noise

Here you go. Side by side with a stock unit. The strut is only a slight bit longer, therefore it does upper a-arm does not droop into the springs. Longer springs are just used instead of a spacer on tthe outside.

    Firestone Destination A/T

Mine are only okay. Good dry traction, and offroad in the dirt and sand. However, not so good in the mud and now that they have worn a little not so good in the rain either. Not a bad tire for the price though.

LIVINGSTON, KY - Daniel Boone National Forest: NOV 11

I'm organizing a trail ride down in the Daniel Boone National Forest, near Livingston KY. Its about 60 miles south of Lexington, right off I-75. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=livingston+ky&ie=UTF8&z=10&ll=37.29809,-84.214325 Since it is in the Daniel Boone NF, wheeling is free...

Skids, Lockers, and a Lift ...Oh My

Rusty's lift is a good quality lift. I've installed 3 of them so far. For 400-500 dollars it includes everything you need plus it has new Old Man Emu struts ( very high quality struts) and shocks. The daystar lift is cheaper, but you will need new rear shock if you want and any kind of...
