Ehmmm, by chance, anyone realized I'm pixxed off????
To make a long story short...newly installed LBJs are....THORN W.T.F.!!!
Even if tempted to, I'm almost sure I can rule out operator's mishandle, You'd...
Day #3!!! (Hey, I'm taking it easy...).
Just in case someone's name is (St) Thomas (nobody, I know...) :whip:, here a couple of pics...
Uh, almost forgot... 'Johnny Rotten' on top had to go too. Replaced with Mopar 52101120AD.
Already stashed as well.
Missing from the picture but gone...
Sunday Update!!!
Well, new R/P is in. Reinstalled all pressure lines but will leave connecting the steering column as one
of the last tasks ( and subsequent refill of course ). Ah, I had the O-rings too...
Driver side UCA is on, minus of course the 'on the ground tightening'..
Rear 948s...
In our KJs the fan relay is controlled by the PCM, so, when veh if off, PCM is in stand by mode, and does nothing
other than keeping stored data. Older vehicles have the rad fan connected to a thermo switch which is probably
run straight from the battery.
Guess it's about safety issues...
First Update!!! :p
- Old rack is out
- Front coilovers are out too.
Surprises: :favorites68:
As expected, lower ball joints' boots are ripped, so friend will have them changed for me on Monday.
I have the proper Miller tools less the press, so can't tackle it for now. Surely next...
Tomorrow dawn the ordeal begins, though I won't tackle that alone...at least.
Chores are :
- Replace Rack & Pinion ( and finally fill with ATF+4 instead of PSF )
- Replace front coil overs ( OME + Ironman + Teraflex )
- Replace rear coils and shocks ( OME + Ironman + sorta hockey...
Oh, sorry to hear that, random issues are a big PITA...
Sounds sorta electrical gremlin to me.., check grounds, melted or broken cables, undo and spray
connectors, relay sockets with contact cleaner and so on...
IIRC there are wires under the chassis ( Yeah, smart place to put them...
For what it's worth and might not be the case...but last month friend's wk had a similar issue, no washer
fluid coming out, neither windshield nor rear glass and yes, apparently finding the relay is a state secret.
So he creeped under the left front headlamp and managed to remove the pump...
This is a 'cross update' of my own thread about the fan clutch AKA viscous drive...
Well, the noise turned out to be...the damn tensioner :disgust:. I knew it was on its way out, as it was the
original unit I had already re-installed once, but couldn't imagine it would cause that sort of...
I suppose he means they use Group III base stocks which are 'hydrocracked' ...dino oil, nowadays called
'synthetic' :favorites68:.
FWIW i'd put MC 5W-30 syn blend and call it a day... (about to change my sig accordingly..)
Part # is : 6503088 . You'll need an E-14 socket, becoming common nowadays..
Where to order ? Same place You'll be getting hub from (might well be moparpart.com)
Also, as they are not expensive, get six at least.. You know, the other hub...:pp:
TJ, 99% (if not 100%) of Jeeps have the HD cooling here....
About the 230 threshold, well, You know the joke about the 'No pets allowed' sign and the cat walking in...
Cats don't know how to read... and our viscous drives probably can't do the math either :happy175:, so they
just kick in...
No, not a big issue.... My fan clutch has just gone south!
It started with a strange click click click coming from the front, at first I thought it could be the
tensioner or A/C compressor but nope. Then I noticed the mechanical fan blades were too slow
and I could ( DON'T do this, it's...
