I'd love to have found a manual 3.7 KJ. But, all things considered the 45RFE in my 02 doesn't seem like a bad transmission if you're gonna have an auto.
Ah, the lack of suspension travel makes sense now as far as spacers causing more front end wear and tear. I didn't think of that one. Less suspension travel means the suspension is less capable of dealing with jarring terrain so instead of those forces being absorbed by the suspension it's...
Weird to me that he wouldn't talk about spring rates since it's kind of a huge piece of how the suspension system works... Weak spring rates are a big part of the problem with a lot of the cheaper lift kits, I believe.
Yes great point on how easy they are to work on! And even for quality parts the prices are pretty manageable. The steering radius is fantastic too! When my fiancee drove the KJ after driving her KL Cherokee all the time she was blown away by how tight a circle it could make.
I was having a conversation this afternoon with my fiancee about how I went from viewing the Jeep Liberty with derision just a few months ago to feeling a genuine fondness for the little KJ. Which got me thinking about a thread topic here.
This forum is old, but there are still a lot of...
I wasn't sure, that's why I said to wait for you to come along for the definitive answer :) Wasn't meaning to spread false information! For my own curiosity and for the sake of the OP, how do they put more stress on front end components than a suspension lift?
I'm not getting the same totals from the site you've linked.
$900 for front OME springs and struts ($300 is for the pair of springs)
$660 for rear OME springs and shocks (Same as above, $300 gets you the pair, not a single spring)
So you're at $1560 CAD for the parts, or about $1130 USD which...
Yeah it's steep for sure. They come in this light black/gray color as well which doesn't look too bad. I've seen a few red KJs where black steel wheels look alright but it's hit or miss for me. The black/gray ones look like this, which isn't bad to visualize dark wheels on the bright red. I...
Oh yeah it's almost the same color as yours! Uhhh the price is the hard part to swallow. They're $190 a piece... *crying* And of course I'd need five because who wants a non-matching spare? $80 a wheel for some black steel wheels looks pretty good in comparison but the bronze would look so good...
Awesome, now to talk myself into spending 1/5 the cost of the whole Jeep on a set of wheels. In other news apparently Black Rhino's website allows you to view the wheels on the KJ so it would look something like this. Wrong bumper since mine is an '02 but close enough. I honestly really like the...
Have been going back and forth between black and silver wheels for the KJ. Silver is a bit too factory looking/don't wanna deal with the 8" wide and having to run 265s on the Moabs. Black just doesn't look great to me on the flame red KJs, even though they look great on EVERY OTHER COLOR, lol...
I think because you still had a click-no-start when jumping the starter relay most of your issues are probably localized to a faulty starter. But if it acts up again I'd definitely dig into that actuator pin. It's a notorious failure point.
Update: Been almost three weeks now and the Jeep hasn't acted up starting once in that three weeks. After that one instance it's gone back to cranking right up every time. So who the hell knows what happened! Hahahaha
@Billwill since jumping the starter relay bypasses everything with the ignition switch and he still got the click no start scenario a few times doesn't that rule out the actuator pin? (Still dig into it and check it out, OP) If the issue was solely the actuator pin then jumping the starter relay...
The real point of jumping those pins is to try and narrow down which circuits are working or not working properly. To my thinking, since you bypassed the ignition and neutral position switch (right name?) by jumping those pins and are still getting a click you've basically isolated the problem...
