There is nice new fluid in the diffs and TC (changed before I bought it and have visually verified that it's in there) so do you think it's fine to just add the friction modifier and do the tight circles routine? I can't verify that the fluid that's in there is dino fluid, tho. Just that it's new.
So ever since shortly after I bought the Liberty I began to notice that there is a weird crunchy sound from somewhere in the rear. It seems to happen mostly when you shift weight or direction. Think of going around a roundabout and then turning out of it, that shift in weight and direction seems...
I think to pull off the white steelies I'll have to repaint the plastic trim black because white with gray trim might clash a little bit. Silver steelies I think would look fine without having to repaint all the trim.
Long term use plans for the KJ are basically a kind of light overland/expedition setup but also my DD. If I do a rooftop tent and assorted car camping stuff I think I'd probably have to run the 927/948 for the added weight but if I keep it lighter I might be fine with the 926/947. I'll have to...
Seconded. @HoosierJeeper, what say you? I mean I know you said both are great but having experienced both is there a difference in ride between the 926 and 927?
Guess this is something like a photo request? Is anyone running/has run painted steel wheels in silver or white? Thinking of getting some of those black OEM style steelies people use for winter wheels in 16x7, 4" BS and painting them white or silver. Like the Taco below. Kind of an old school...
Oh, I didn't mean to imply that you only went 2.5+ for awesome factor, sorry! I meant that for my purposes going higher felt like it would mostly be because it looks cooler rather than because I personally actually needed it.
Right, but that spring rate translates to a difference in total lift because the 926 will settle more than a 927 right? I'm mostly asking things counter to the prevailing wisdom of the 927/948 setup because I'm not sure I want/need 2.5" total lift when 2" would probably work for what I need...
Since you brought it up, quick Q: What's the lift difference between the 926 and 927? From my reading across the forums it seems like the 926/947 setup gives you about 2" while the 927/948 gives you around the 2.5" mark?
Drove the KJ out to a trailhead on a pretty washboardy old dirt road and needless to say on the stock suspension it was pretty insufferable. A lot of my use is going to involve less maintained forest service roads like this and I'm wondering how OME setups handle the washboard type stuff/how is...
I still miss my old WJ :( The ZJ is still a great platform though! Especially with the 4.0. I hear you on the cramped interior. I still haven't gotten to a point where jumping in the KJ feels "right" in terms of interior comfort, especially when coming from a WJ. It's more a matter of "Okay this...
Quite the history with the KJ(s)! And yeah on that final point I have to agree. They're nice enough vehicles but I just have a hard time trusting really any new vehicle. Too many points of failure on these overly complicated new vehicles. And the bean counters have also made them all feel very...
I'm not sure what it says about my previous cars but driving the KJ at night with stock halogens was a pleasant surprise for me. Much nicer than my fiancees 2016 Cherokee.
A KL Cherokee is what we bought before we moved. It's been a good little Jeep so far but I'd still rather have something older and simpler than any of this new computer on wheels stuff. The KJ fits that niche very nicely :)
Gonna play along for the sake of data:
