Jeep Liberty Reliability - how does it compare?

just curious, how do you factor in a trip to the dealer that is routine maintenance, or complimentary? A lot of people, specially certain makes, make trips to the dealer for anything, and they tend not to think of it as a negative. Land Rover's for example, most owners take it to the dealer...

Dealer Over Filled The Engine Oil !

lots of cars have incorrect dipstick length, most are caught with a TSB. my 03 reads perfect after an oil change. Maybe some of you have so much sludge in the pan that even after adding 5qt your level is high since sludge isnt draining :)

Starter problems? Need help confirming the culprit...

you could try knocking the starter while the ignition is on. If the starter kicks over then it is most likely a starter issue. To me it sounds more like an electrical issue since you washed the vehicle.

part time 4x4 light on all the time?

Some claim the ecu acts differently because it thinks its in part time. I don't believe this to be true but what do I know. Mine has been on for about two years with no ill effects.

    AC issue

good stuff, mine is still working. the temps have been in the 90's and it is doing great, cycling on and off a lot less now as well, which is nice for the pressure tubes. I too am hoping this fix works for some time to come! Hopefully others will try this before taking it to a stealer and...

    AC issue

the shims are on the shaft to control the air gap. The clutch plate wears down over time so the air gap changes. I took the only shim off that I had. Some vehicles may have 1, 2, or 3 shims, you can take the clutch off to see. A clutch holding tool would be great but I used an impact wrench...

Right to repair laws in works.!!!

thats not a great example, you pay HOA fees for the area where your home is situated and for the opportunity and for value protection against the potential downgrade in the area. You had the choice to live in an area with a HOA. A vehicle is different. You should have the right to know how...

Right to repair laws in works.!!!

the problem is, it isnt R&D, and you own the vehicle. You have the right to make a decision on where and how you want to have the vehicle fixed. I don't like when specific components are "locked out" without a dealer only device. What they will do to get around this is offer the "keys"...

    AC issue

FYI for anyone that finds this later or if anyone is following or cares. I took the clutch off and apart and removed the shim on the dowel which is used to control the air gap. Over time due to wear I believe the gap was too wide. After removing the shim and buffing/cleaning the surfaces of...

    AC issue

this is an air gap issue with the clutch plate. I am confident in this because as the compressor warms up the magnetism is weaker and unable to pull the clutch in. When the compressor is cold there is a stronger magnetic pull which is why it works find. Now I just have to cross my fingers...

    AC issue

When your clutch turns off it will probably not be magnetized. When mine starts to fail, it will stop yet still be magnetized. I don't see how my freon levels can be low, I've checked.
