Swapped out the thermostat yesterday with the Mopar unit. Took it for a test drive and no code now. The heat also worked better. After I changed it the first time the heat just didnt seem to get as warm as it did before and at highway speeds it was alright. So I figured clogged heater core, even...
It was installed correctly. I even double checked that.
I called the dealership today and my wife is going to pick up the Mopar one tomorrow and when I am back home over the weekend I will swap it out. Its a pretty simple job.
I did bleed it and since the change we drove from SC back to PA and all around town and my wife just made a trip to NY without any check engine lights. It could be a rogue air bubble, but I am guessing the cheap t-stat (even though it cost more than the OEM one).
I have noticed and my wife...
The t-stat in the jeep is only a month old but it is one from autozone...
Today, my wife calls me and says the check engine light came on. I happen to be in NJ for the week for work. I had her turn the key on and off 3 times quickly and the code displayed as P1281- engine cold too long. I...
Took the KJ on a nice lengthy road trip that will conclude tomorrow. She did pretty well. managed to get 18mpg as the best out of the trip. It was fully loaded down in the back, so it was hauling some more than normal weight. Did have a few interesting things take place on the trip. I noticed...
Did you ever get this resolved? I noticed I have a noise at around 75mph coming from the front. I believe mine may be the wheel hubs. I am not sure if the previous owner ever had them replaced at any point. I am interested to see if you were able to get it resolved and quieted down.
Thanks...
Reading is hard. :emotions34:
I checked the gap and made sure it was at .40 on all the new plugs which were the correct plugs (OEM suggested) as well. Took me about 2 hours and that was because I wasnt fighting with the coolant reservoir being in my way.
One of the coils was written on...
Changed the plugs and coil packs last night. Figured I should before a nice long road trip for the holidays. The plugs had some small electrodes on them. Drove it to work this morning and she seems to be running better ( wasnt having issues before but she feels more peppy). That was the easiest...
LibertyTC,
I cross referenced that part number on the Napa box from your first pic. I pulled it up as well as vehicle fitment list and it fits several year models of dodge dakotas and durangos. Looks like Chrysler didn't want to design a new steering rack. I used a 2003 Dodge dakota sport 4x4...
Found this thread doing some research on these wonderful lines.
Mine appear to be weeping at the point where the rubber hose connects to the steel line coming out of the left side of the radiator. It has the spring clamps. I backed them off a little bit and put a hose clamp on each hose so...
I have used the same method tommudd describes. . Used to work at a couple dealerships while in college and sometimes new cars would have nasty crap all over the windshield and we would also have to get some over spray off windows from the body shop occasionally. We used Sprayway window cleaner (...
flushed coolant ( technically on saturday), replaced water pump, coolant reservoir cap.
Next: new plugs and coil packs. Then a nice long road trip for the holidays:gr_grin:
I never tested the heat before doing the flush, I had heat before doing it. My main concern was the dealer stated that hey couldnt get flow on their flush system because my system was filled with crud. I saw some scaling in the hoses and the fill bottle. But my radiator wasnt "clogged" as they...
Did the coolant flush today. First off I have no idea what the dealership was doing but I turned the petcock 1/4 turn and I had a slow trickle from the drain. Once I turned it more I had a steady flow. So apparently an idiot worked on my Jeep.
Coolant came out clean... and green! I am...
I am interested in seeing how the Jeep does this winter with cold starts since I have only had her a month or so. Being from the south we dont have to deal with the sub zero temps, if its single digits its really cold! Currently in PA due to work so its a slight climate change. My F250 will...
Thats why I went ahead a purchased a water pump, rad, and thermostat. just in case during the flush I find things are really bad I have those parts on hand and not trying to scramble around to get them. Most likely will go ahead and change the water pump since I will already have the system...
That is what I wanted to find out, was about the gooing up. The 6.0L could be seeing issues due to the coolant being contaminated from the casting sand that wasnt fully removed from the block. Hard to tell since they just flush and replace with and ELC coolant instead of replacing with the G05...
question regarding the type of coolant used. I see that HOAT ( Zerex- G05) is to be used in our systems.
Here is the kicker, that was used in the 6.0L powerstroke from Ford and everyone replaced it due to silicate contaminates building up in the oil cooler and the EGR and causing the head...
