Changed the front brakes and rotors on Saturday.
Had organics pads and the rotors were warped and her stopping power sucked. Replaced with new shiny rotors and ceramic pads. She stops far better now! next up is rear brakes.
Assuming its a stock skid plate, it is pretty simple. Has 4 17mm bolts. Two towards the front, they are each in a hole. Take those two completely out. The rear ones you can just loosen and then slide the skid plate out towards the front and it will drop down and its free. Installation is the...
Thursday I got the new AC clutch/pulley installed finally. My toaster oven paid for itself that day. Set the pulley in there at 250* for about 35 minutes. Put it on the snout and tapped it a few times and it was a done deal. Was nice to have AC again!
Yesterday I flushed the brake system. It...
My plan is to start low and see if we can meet at a number we both like. I am going to use the leaking trans as my biggest leverage. I am going to test drive it this evening and see how she feels and sounds. Thanks for all the input guys!
That sounds like the lift is at least done properly so maybe there is some hope for how well it was maintained ( as far as things being changed at the proper intervals). Judging from the interior that I could see it didnt look trashed at all which is also a good sign.
I am going to try and...
I went there yesterday after they had closed so I could crawl under it in peace. I got some pics of the lift.
Front I see bilstein shocks.
Rear, I didnt see a manufacturer name but they were red and white ( which I have always seen rancho with that color scheme)
Crawled under it and found...
I feel it is too high too. The "CAI" they installed is definitely a joke. When I saw the pics I saw a point to talk down the price. Not a fan of the red mesh either.
I will get some pics of the lift this evening if I can. Im thinking if I can get him down to between 5500 and 6000 then we...
Hey guys,
I was driving around with the wife Saturday evening and we were looking around at some used car places just looking around to see what was near us. Came across a 2006 Liberty Renegade that was lifted. The fender flares, bumpers and lower panels have all been rhino lined. The paint...
Attempted to put the AC clutch on. After fighting with the thing for about an hour, I concluded the snap ring that was sent with the kit for to hold the magnet on was too small. I checked the other one, and it fit thankfully. So I am on the hunt for the correct size snap ring.
I found the...
Not technically today, but Thursday the wife called and said she smelled the brakes burning like it did over Christmas when one of the calipers seized up. Of course she was 200 miles away. So I told her to get to her parents and let me know. So the next day she said it was fine, she didnt smell...
Friday I decided to check the IAC and it was dirty so it got cleaned. Then broken the tip off my T20 bit into the last screw I was putting in. :winner_third_h4h: So that will be fun to take care of, but the jeep ran a bit smoother after cleaning the IAC.
Saturday she got a few hundred miles...
So with oil on both sides if the pan where it shown in the pics still looks like it is potentially still the front main seal? I will get one ordered and hopefully can get that changed out. Has anyone here done a write up on how to do it ( easiest way more importantly)?
Thanks,
Andrew
I decided to change the oil a little ahead of schedule this weekend and so I could also get under it and look in better length at the leak issue. I have attached some pics of what I found and where the wetness is. It seems to be on both sides.
I also decided to grab a 10mm socket and give...
Yeah through my research I am seeing that the gaskets are pretty resilient. So I think I can rule out the gasket. Thanks for the idea about the front main seal I woukdnt have thought about that.
My plan is to check the the oil pan bolts and make sure they are all tightened up first and...
After doing some quick research I am going to check a few other possible leak places just to make sure. I would be highly pissed if I did all that work and it wasnt that. Definitely not as easy as I was hoping. Im used to just being able to unbolt the motor mounts and lift the engine and unbolt...
