Malfunction Indicator Light

Weird noise when car starts in cold weather.
Mine makes a really weird buzzing/whining noise in the winter when it gets down around 15 degrees F or lower...always has...I used to think it was the belt, but I replaced that, and now I realize it comes from behind the dash, not the front of the engine. I got the Sirius Stiletto 2 portable radio for Christmas...you can get a vehicle docking kit for it as well. It certainly isn't cheap, but it's really worth it, since not only can you listen to it in the car, but anywhere else as well =]- KJ zGal

Kj sport, renegade or limited?? 2.4 or 3.7??
I'll try to find the article I read it in...it was literally years ago so maybe I misunderstood it, but I was pretty sure they mentioned something about the Renegades having something different with the body itself weight-wise--i.e. not the tranny or the skids but if I can't find the article...- KJ zGal

Kj sport, renegade or limited?? 2.4 or 3.7??
Like mine: '02 5-speed Renegade =D The Renegades also have a heavier frame and so they weigh about 300 pounds more than the next heaviest model...which I assume would be the Limited. My '02 has served me well and is gonna hit 120k next month...as for the other years, I can't say anything...- KJ zGal

Wheel Flare Bolts & Cleaning
Okay, so does anyone have any idea how to get dirt/salt/other-stuff-which-I-can't-determine-what-it-is out of the bolts on the Renegade wheel flares? I've tried everything I can think of...pressure washer, air compressor, scrubbing, cloth over a paper clip to try to scrape it out...but nothing...- KJ zGal

Headlights and idling weird...again
I did install a new head unit a long time ago...it's always playing my music though, so it's never really in standby mode, if there even is one. I'll have to get a meter and try the fuse removal process you mentioned valvestem. Thanks =]- KJ zGal

Thanks for the tips all! I'll wait and see if the fuel filter makes any difference on that '03 before I do anything I guess. It's not really a rough idle, it's just really hesitant, aka, dropping to 300 RPMs and sitting there then going back up to normal and not dropping again. Also, just...- KJ zGal

No way is that going to be under $4k. That's what mine looked like and it was just over $4k to fix. Luckily though, yours is pretty new, even though it does have a lot of miles, so it won't be more than the value of the Jeep. Mine's an '02 and it had I think 105k on it when I hit that...- KJ zGal

Brake pads and rotors
I paid $146 for two rotors and pads at my mechanic's, but they also didn't charge me for labor. With labor it would have been about $65 more...I can't imagine getting all four replaced would be over $500. Just my thoughts.- KJ zGal
