    Hard shift to Overdrive

You are correct 3rd to OD I did check for any tranny codes with a buddys scan tool (can read specific brand vehicles, trans DTCs, probably nothing like a dealers scan tool, but nothing came up) When I took it in last summer for the tranny, the dealership warned to not do a flush, as I had...

    Hard shift to Overdrive

While driving last night, I had an hour trip driving through some traffic, and was experiencing some very strange shifting from the KJ.. It has always shifted pretty good, but while on the highway doing a lane change downshift from OD to 4th, the shift back up to overdrive once I let off and...

    Long Crank Before Start?

Well I performed a pressure test and with the jeep in the ON position not running pressure was 53 psi. Once started, the pressure went to 59. Stayed constant while I let it idle for 15 minutes. Revved it to 2500 rpms a few times and stayed at 59. Turned it off and pulled the key and pressure...

    Long Crank Before Start?

Haha that is what I thought. What is the correct procedure for testing the fuel pressure at the rail? if I'm thinking correctly you put it on the valve with the car off and turn the car to the on position and it should be reading between 40 and 45 psi?

Where is the fuel filter? I thought it was integrated into the fuel pump as well.

    Long Crank Before Start?

Is there anyway to test the check valve? Being that is in the pump, I am guessing not, and also it would require the replacement of the pump assembly. I was reading up on other posts and I found (specifically to 02-03) a replaceable fuel filter that is accessible from an access hole in...

    Long Crank Before Start?

I did put a bottle of gumout fuel treatment (not injector cleaner) last night. I might try to add another bottle. Started after work no problem. Got home and it sat for 45 minutes then needed to run errands, and it gave me 6-7 second crank... First time it has done it with the engine up...

    Long Crank Before Start?

That's interesting to hear. The station I frequent has added stickers "may contain up to 10% ethonal" to all the pumps a few months ago (or maybe they have been there and I have never noticed).. The station was built about 6-8 months ago and I have going there pretty consistently. While...

    Long Crank Before Start?

Thanks for that! Although I started it this morning after sitting all night, and started like normal.. checked for codes after I got to work, and nothing showing.. So possibly had bad gas, or water in there, and the adding of the new/higher octane gas and fuel treatment helped, or maybe...

    Long Crank Before Start?

The check valve is built in to the fuel pump on the KJ correct? I think I might just go buy a pressure gauge/test kit from NAPA tomorrow if the problem persists. Ironically I was just reading this site.

    Long Crank Before Start?

Let it sit for about 2 hours and fired right up. Ran a scan and it was showing P0172 and P0175. I cleared the codes and will monitor the readings. I had issues with a rear O2 about 6 months when I replaced one side with a Bosch. Switched to an NGK and it had been good for the last 6 months.

    Long Crank Before Start?

Battery is about 2 years old a duralast gold. Plugs are NGK and were done last summer about 8k on them. Let sit for about 45-50 minutes and tried starting it. Started faster then ever. (not even a second of cranking) Had a little under a half tank so i just put 6 gallons of 89 in and will...

    Long Crank Before Start?

I went to start the KJ at lunch today, and after cranking for a few seconds I let go, kinda puzzled it was taking so long, so I tried again, this time it took about 7-8 seconds of cranking to start.. Once started it ran fine, and I was on my way thinking it was a fluke. After leaving work...

    Coolant smell after flush?

Well on my way home from work, I ran with the windows closed and vent on "2" and it had the faint smell only when stopped at a light, and never did the windshield fog up. Once home I washed her and checked for any signs of leaks and lightly hosed around the coolant tank, and then let her run...

    Coolant smell after flush?

I had a coolant flush done at the dealership on Saturday, they said the coolant looked very dirty, but that it was good to go. (I have not ever had the temp go above half, just did the flush for maintenance) But now when I drive with the vent on, I get a faint smell of coolant out of the...

    Rough Idle/CELs?

Have put about 150 miles on it this week, and still no CEL! Idle still doesn't seem perfect once warmed up, but I don't think it ever was..

    Rough Idle/CELs?

Well Sunday I replaced the Bosch 02 sensor with the NTK and new plugs, air filter and cleaned the TB. CEL has been off since and no codes are showing up when being scanned. Will update again in a few days with more miles!

    RIP Jeepy 2004-2014

I have 103k on the clock and the PO beat the piss out of it before I got it at 60k I knew it would be a risk buying a Jeep in the condition I got it, but a few sensors and maintenance and she has been good to me for the last 40k miles. With regular maintenance, she sees the redline pretty...
