Drove mine about 300 miles this week. More than I have since changing the HGs a while back. Refilled the tank and calculated just over 18mpg. Haven't gotten that kind of mileage in a few years. Maybe new O2 sensors helped too. Now if I could just figure out the sporadic ABS light.
May be good to try some fuel treatment. Maybe lines and injectors are gunked up. I like Techron but there are plenty out there that may help. Hopefully not the PCM. I think there was a TSB for the 04s about a reflash. Don't think the 03s were included. Some other info:

I had an episode quite a few months back where I had an immediate misfire when I started it up. Engine was warm as I had recently driven it. Threw a #6 misfire with flashing CEL. I immediately shut it down (still in my driveway). I erased the code and started it back up and hasn't done it since...
Well said and well said! Physics is good stuff and I've gotten all kinds of great info from this and other forums. So much info out there that I've had the guts to tackle some things I wouldn't have tried a few years ago. :High 5:
I replaced my original a few years ago after it cracked (top front drivers side). I guess this is the usual failure point most people see. I had an overheat in there due to bad fan relay. Didn't do any research and I threw a 100$ spectrum from Rock auto in and it leaked in the same place after...
Mine was sludged up when I had a #2 exhaust rocker fall off. No valve seat issues just too many short trips. That was a couple years ago. Hasn't happened again. There are some good flush and treatment products out there from BG. I've used MMO periodically with no issues.
Might be worth pulling the "valve" covers and seeing what the inside looks like. If it's popping when it misfires it may have thrown a rocker. Happened to me once and it was #2 exhaust.
Yep. There is usually a spot for this. I know the Moog I recently put on had a release point for excess grease. I give it a few squirts and it shows on the one side. Check the boot and make sure it is seated properly and make sure it isn't torn but other than that it sounds okay to me.
Bad boots on either end of the front drive shaft will cause all kinds of weird noises but when my boot tore (recessed one near Tcase) the noise got worse when in 4wd under load. Worth a close inspection for tears. Also check the axle CVs while you are at it for tears and play. Maybe intermediate...
Like Bob said snug is good enough. I've got the 45rfe and pan bolt torque is only 105 in/lbs. Even if you have the 42RLE it's probably right around there. I have to replace my pan next time I service mine cause I'm tired of the slight drip I've had since I got it cause the PO torqued the crap...
Still visit often enough to quench the pizza cravings, Old Forge has some good pies. I remember spending lots of time at the old Staircase Lounge too.
:emoticondancer:
I never could dance worth a sh$# though
