Let me know your Opinion about my Offroading skills

The desert is a beautiful place. I love getting down to Joshua Tree, CA and riding the trails through the sage brush. This is probably obvious, but water is one of the most important things to have while you're out there. As far as your wheeling skills, it's all about getting out there and...

    Blown hose

The line will be here today, and I planned to install it and recharge the system. What is the reason for replacing the accumulator/drier along with the line? I'm not proficient with the technical side of all this. I also can't afford to take it into a shop where they'll be charging me...

    2002 Jeep Liberty

This is a bold vision that you're playing with, and I like it!! I have no answers on the specifics of all that and whether it will work out, but with enough engineering anything will work right? The transmission is the most stout one that came on Liberties, and it has more available adapters...

    Transmission Filter Change

Yea I considered using a cutting tool but was overly concerned about marring the surface that the o-ring seats in. All in all, was a pain in the ass to get out, but glad its done and that I didn't pay $350 for it!

    Blown hose

You're right TC! I should fill out my signature line. Thanks for the heads up. That's the correct part #. Ordered from rock auto for $32, napa had it for 55. Planned on doing more research before I dove into the replacement, but is there anything I need to know before hand when doing this...

    Blown hose

I think I found the part after a bit of digging and research. High pressure discharge line, compressor to condenser. Part #: 55037801AB.

    Lug Nuts

You hit the nail on the head there. Impact wrenches used at the shop just tear them up. Also, what I assumed to be the cause of my unfortunate issue was they broke the outer shell and didn't realize they weren't torquing the actual nut, just spinning the shell. If you're gentle with them...

    Blown hose

After putting the transmission pan back on, and filling with a couple gallons of ATF+4, I cranked the Jeep up and was about to roll it off the ramps when I heard a loud pop. Turned the engine off immediately, fearing I'd done some irreparable damage somewhere. Went around to check out the...

    Transmission Filter Change

I was able to get the o-ring out. It was quite a task, enlisted my neighbor for help, asked the guys at napa, everyone was kind of stumped. Ended up prying it out with the end of a wrench that I ground the corners off of to make it more smooth. Was able to spin it using a flat head screwdriver...

    Optima Yellow Top or...?

Batteries Plus doesn't carry a G34 in that brand that fits the Liberty. It wasn't a headache at all, slips right into the battery retention clip, and clears the hood just fine. Only thing that I thought could be a problem is the switch up of the +/- but it's been fine. Sent from my iPhone...

    Optima Yellow Top or...?

I purchased an X2 Power AGM Group 35 720cca in November 2016 from Batteries Plus. It's been running flawlessly so far. It's definitely bigger than necessary, so much so that I was concerned it would make contact with the hood. Also had to install it backwards, and the +/- are flipped, so the...

    Lug Nuts

I'll be the nth person to tell you to stay away from OEM lug nuts. Had a horrible experience with those lug nuts a few years back, ended up losing 3 lugs on one wheel, broke two studs and essentially stranded myself in North California, not a fun experience. Went with the McGuard for the...

    Transmission Filter Change

I do have a dremel with metal cut wheels. Seems relatively dangerous to get up in there with that. I'm concerned with even marring the inside with the metal picks, let alone cutting through and making a gouge. If all else fails then I'll use the dremel. Thank you for the input.

    Transmission Filter Change

Very true, that would have done the job. I started working on the holes with a piece of brass stock and a small hammer, then I realized it wasn't going to be flawless, paint on pan was chipping, and there was old rtv that needed to be scrapped off. 45$ for the new one verses a few hours of...

    Transmission Filter Change

Yea, I understand the basics of this. My specific question is, how do I get the o-ring out, or is that piece that is pictured even supposed to come out. Different transmission than the video, and therefore a different o-ring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Transmission Filter Change

I'm kind of stuck in the middle of my transmission filter/fluid change here. I have taken the pan and both filters off so far, but am having a hard time getting this o-ring out. Am I missing something here, is this supposed to stay? Got a pick set, but this thing isn't budging. Tried a heat...

    WARN Stubby Bumper Proposal?

So what you're saying Tom, is that while it's possible to make a bracket work, the strength of the mount is your concern? That's a serious concern. How far did you get into the design before you decided to scrap it? Perhaps you can share some insight on why you put it on the shelf. If this...

    WARN Stubby Bumper Proposal?

I'm gonna go ahead and jump on this train of very interested KJ owners. This would be a great alternative to the ARB bumper, and really would open up a lot more bumper options for us. I have an '02, and wouldn't be against fabbing up inserts for the negative space that the grill creates.

    Front Runner Rack

It is entirely overpriced, y'all are right about that. Also correct is the fact that for the money of a FR I could get one built. The reason I like that rack is its overall weight. At just 60lb, and capable of carrying 300lb. The liberty is already heavy so less is more. Another plus...

    Front Runner Rack

Been looking at my options for a roof rack and came across this Slimline II Full Roof Rack / Jeep Liberty Seems like a solid rack, and it's very slim which is a bonus. Wondering if anyone has had an opportunity to see these, or if anyone has one, would love to hear thoughts on it.
