    Stuck rear passenger door Help!!

You’ll have to get to it by taking off the inner door panel inside the car. Do this with the window up or you will not be able to access the door catch mechanism which would be behind the rolled down window. I believe there’s a screw behind the panel around the doorhandle which you can pull off...

Question about 4.7L V8 in the WJ/WK/XK — need advice

Update: the Commander is waiting on parts, including the Mopar MAP sensor, and thus is still at the shop. Hopefully will have it back in a couple of days, all inspected and ready to stretch its legs on a weekend road trip. Meanwhile some stuff I ordered for it has come in: - Matching 17 inch...

What did you do to your Jeep today? -Wrangler Edition-

This all sounds fun! As a former Vermonter and fan of NPS I approve! Here is my thread on adding solar to my KK. You've probably seen it but if not, maybe it will spark some ideas. https://www.jeepkj.com/threads/diy-lifepo4-battery-for-jeepy.80762/

Question about 4.7L V8 in the WJ/WK/XK — need advice

Thanks for the corrected info on valve seats in the 4.7 & 5.7, as well as the clarification about cam lobe wear not being this particular era of Hemi engine. While I have owned my 3.7 Liberty for almost 14 years and know a lot about its strengths and weaknesses, the 4.7 is a new powertrain to...

    DIY LiFePO4 Battery for Jeepy

Here’s the stats at about noon today. Not bad for a couple of old 100 watt panels that are flat and not directly facing the sun! The battery will be fully charged by the end of the day. It’s cooking now at 10 amps!

So glad you found the problem. Also that you were able to fix it. The nearly free option is always preferable!

    DIY LiFePO4 Battery for Jeepy

In case anyone is interested in the mounts, they are Audak tube clamps for bull bars and roll cages. A little pricey but super worth it. These things are strong. Here is the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Audak-Aluminum-Mounting-Horizontal-Adjustable/dp/B083JSVZ1V?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1

    Greetings and seeking KJ wisdom

Can you post pics of your KJ? It would be easier to see what kind of structural issues the rust might be causing, if any.

    DIY LiFePO4 Battery for Jeepy

Here are some pics of the solar panels installed. I like how low profile they are on the roof. I haven't had a chance to drive it on the highway yet so I will report back later about additional wind noise if any. The sun is not hitting them directly yet (pic looking east). Around mid day the sun...

    Fuel Tank Heat Shield

Yes, LibertyTC remember's right! I had to replace a rotted out one a year or two ago. Let me see if I can dig up that thread. https://www.jeepkj.com/threads/kk-gas-tank-skid-plate-rot-a-solution.78065/ Basically keep calling junk yards and try to talk to a person. In the process of taking in...

    DIY LiFePO4 Battery for Jeepy

Finished getting everything together just as it got dark! But the solar panels do show some voltage from the street light, so they are alive!!! I used some beefy tube clamps on the ATH roof rack, and tied them to the solar panels with some beefy stainless hardware. Here's how the brackets...

    DIY LiFePO4 Battery for Jeepy

Going to try and install the solar panels today and start charging the battery back up. I did a bunch of measuring and drilling on the solar panel frames for the tube mounts tonight and if I measured right, it shouldn’t take too long to bolt them on.

    09 Won't Idle, No Codes

I just had a P0171 code on my 4,7L Commander, a similar code to yours. Mine was lean, yours is running rich. The problem turned out to be a faulty MAP sensor that was sending spurious barometer readings to the engine computer. It was trying to compensate for being at the wrong altitude...

    09 Won't Idle, No Codes

That’s really odd. I wouldn’t think you’d have good fuel pressure if the filter was blocked. The filter in the KK is part of the fuel pump assembly in the tank so not really easily serviceable. Well, at its most basic the engine needs fuel, air, and spark. Fuel seems ok with 58 psi. What about...

    09 Won't Idle, No Codes

I wish I could help, as I had a similar issue a couple years ago but mine was the fuel pump. I believe 60 psi for the fuel pressure is right (someone check me on that) so I am stumped too. Maybe check all the ground straps and also make sure the battery and alternator are still good. If power is...

    DIY LiFePO4 Battery for Jeepy

Did a little bit more on the battery project today. I got the solar wiring up to the roof rack in preparation for putting two 100 watt solar panels up there. Right now I just have the 10 AWG wires zip tied in place and the two ends hooked together to keep the connectors waterproof. The wires...

Question about 4.7L V8 in the WJ/WK/XK — need advice

One of the reasons I was interested in the 4.7 is that I already have a 3.7 and the modular nature of them means I already have some spare parts and the experience/knowledge to work on it. You're right on both counts, 04Liberty! I have not had serious overheating in my 3.7 on the Liberty yet...

Question about 4.7L V8 in the WJ/WK/XK — need advice

For my future self and anyone who is interested, here is the process of replacing the upper front diff bushing on the Commander: And here is the process for replacing dead bulbs in the dashboard/climate controls. You wouldn’t believe how few of the buttons actually light up at night, that...
