I too think that the threads are right hand.
I did a web search on a part number/barcode that is on the steel fan; 55037964AA. It is for a viscous fan clutch for a 2009 Dodge Nitro 3.7L V6. Not exactly a 2008 Liberty, but very close.
I was hoping to reuse the fan; it mounts on the inside surface of the clutch like the replacement clutches are set up to do. I will need to purchase the clutch to see if the hole pattern matches.
Rock Auto doesn’t offer a clutch with a fan. They do have a 7 blade plastic fan for $58. I would prefer not to replace the fan, which seems to be in fine condition.
My fan clutch is wobbly and my water pump is leaking - it leaks out as the engine cools.
Autozone offers a tool for loan, but with the tool, two of us (one above the pump and one below) were not able to develop enough torque on the brass nut to break it loose. I find this design a bit odd...
We are presently replacing the water pump, thermostat, and fan clutch. While coolant is out, I would like to pull the hoses off of the heater core and back flush it with water.
How do I determine which hose is core inlet and which one is core outlet?
I did think about Autozone and called them earlier this morning. They have two loaners available; $20 refundable deposit.
On the KK, the fan shroud (with electric fan attached) can be lifted straight up between the radiator and the fan clutch.
I doubt the compressor seals survived the heat of...
The double row bearing came out in pieces, the outer race still in the pulley. The electromagnet part of the clutch is definitely burnt. The part the is still attached to the compressor comes with a clutch kit. How to remove it? Do you think the compressor survived this heat event?
While in...
The bearing seized up hard and it appears that the pulley is cocked at an angle, about to completely derail the serpentine belt. It seems to have caused the alternator to stop charging. The belt is smoking and smelling of hot rubber.
Will replacing the bearing fix this issue? How do you...
My son sent me a video of his serpentine belt smoking on the AC pulley.
He had been running the defroster, which was probably engaging the AC pulley clutch.
I will see the vehicle tonight; maybe I can pull the electrical connector and the pulley will idle OK. Any thoughts?
The water pump leaks intermittently on my son's 08 Liberty. It doesn't leak when the engine is hot; it leaks following cool-down.
The procedure I found on youtube shows first removing the thermostat, which is in a small housing on the engine side of the hose from the passenger side of...
We installed the alternator, battery, and serpentine belt last night in blizzard conditions. We had to keep a blanket on the engine to keep a snow drift from forming in the engine bay. We got it all done and all is good. We never did get the transmission lock to release by inserting and...
