    Weird Overheating.....Sometimes

May need a different mounting. Why I chose the ARB bumper, moves the winch lower and the bumper protects the winch.

    Tire damage near rim

BFG's? If so very normal after a year or so,Michelin skimps on the rubber in there tires and are very prone to cracking. I wouldn't drive on them since if they are BFG's they are well known to have very weak sidewalls to begin with.

    Rear lower shock mount extensions

You can't "over extend" a shock and you use extended bumpstops for "bottoming out". Lifting any vehicle you must add extended bumpstops, almost every kit does not include extended bumpstops.

    Rear lower shock mount extensions

Maxing out a shocks "extension" is not a bad thing nor damages the shock, sudden full compression is bad for shocks. If you needed or wanted limited extension for your shocks the better choice would be the correct shocks or limiting straps.

    Goodridge G-Stop Brake Line Kit

The braided lines themselfs are fairly cheap and a few places offer high quality braided lines. The expensive part is the junction blocks and bango fittings.

    Weird Overheating.....Sometimes

And a winch that covers 50% of the grill. HD cooling only adds low speed cooling for towing. It's only a mechanical fan which when "locked" reduces engine power by about 5%.

    Weird Overheating.....Sometimes

HD cooling is a band aid fix at best. Last road trip with my late KJ was to MOAB,had to go up to the Eisenhower tunnel in Colorado,7 miles at 5000 rpm's,lugging 6400lbs+ to 11,000 feet, and no HD cooling never went above 224 degrees with the AC on.

Wits End! Should I sell my KJ?

You have to add adjustable parts in the rear like the JBA 4 link setup or make custom adjustable LCA's which by the way is not as hard or expensive as one might think.

    Weird Overheating.....Sometimes

If the A/C being on causes it I'd be suspecting a air flow issue causing to much heat soak in the radiator. More weight, bigger than stock tires, hills,AC on,grill mostly blocked, and not geared correctly is finally showing it's weakness in the ability to properly cool. Remember higher...

Wits End! Should I sell my KJ?

I'd be checking the rear bushings and pinion angles,if those rear angles are not within 1 or 2 degrees your going to get vibs. Or.......................................... Just don't drive 50mph:gr_grin:

Are JBA UCA's as necessary as Marlin Gehman makes them sound?

Not when it's Sunday and no dealership is open since at the time the only place to get that line was the dealership, that was 2 years before JBA had those lines available.

    What Battery?

Or you can get the Sasquatch battery tray and pop in a Odyssey PC1750 which is rated at 950cca(mine has always put out over 1300cca's),comes with a 4 year free replacement and than a 72 month pro-rated warranty.

Are JBA UCA's as necessary as Marlin Gehman makes them sound?

Lost them in a parking lot with a un-even entrance,3 hours after lifting.

Help diagnosing bad fuel economy + engine lights

My KJ pinged like crazy with 85 octane, needed to run 91 octane here in Colorado. The KJ also states for earlier models to run 89+ octane gas if towing,if your lifted and added skids, bumpers, and all that your basically "towing" with all the added weight. The KJ,my Town Car,and almost every...

Are JBA UCA's as necessary as Marlin Gehman makes them sound?

You need it also on '02-'05's. Ripped mine apart when I first lifted the KJ.

Are JBA UCA's as necessary as Marlin Gehman makes them sound?

Yes and would always highly recommend JBA UCA's with any lifted KJ/KK. A must have, almost bordering on required.

a couple of questions about a new a/c compressor

To keep any type of warranty on the compressor the receiver/dryer must be replaced and the fixed orifice tube(which is a whole line in a KJ),otherwise no warranty. In some vehicles the condenser also needs to be replaced.

    Clutch replacement problems

3 types of manual tans have been used in the KJ,1 for the 2.4 gas,1 for the 3.7 till '05,and 1 for the gasser post '05. If the clutch disk does not match the pressure plate the kit is wrong, also needs to match to the flywheel.
  19. tjkj2002

    Clutch replacement problems

Wrong clutch. A bigger clutch disk would not fit. Either way you need a new flywheel and clutch kit,you can not machine the KJ's flywheel as it is special machined with a curve.
