I believe my problem getting the snap rings back into place has been my shitty pliers. You can replace it yourself instead of the whole compressor, I'm in the middle of doing it myself; Part: 6707-6110 Clutch Set Service Manual: http://www.sanden.com/productlibrary/manuals/SD_Service_Guide_Rev_2.pdf Having some troubles with it, haven't fixed it just yet...haven't tried much...- 604KJ

I just had my tc replaced. It was shifting like yours and just got worse and worse over about 8 months, kept getting stuck in gear.
