    Pulled the rear boomerang off my parts Jeep, nice and easy, done in a few minutes. Started taking the boomerang off my other car, both the bolts are so rusty the heads have gone, time to drag the welder out, I thought it was going too well!

    Tbh it might just be one of those things, pumps fail occasionally. Unless it cost a lot I'd be tempted to strip it and see what has failed.

    I was suggesting you set it up like something in a 4 jaw chuck - If you set the carrier up on a bench or something ridged, remove all the ring bolts, put 2 opposed bolts back in loosely and then set a dial test indicator to touch the outer edge of the ring gear you can rotate the ring and see...

    If you strip it again you could clamp the carrier to something so it spins & then clock the ring gear in, fiddly but should work.
