I have a NOS mopar rear sway bar to replace the rusty one on my Jeep. Today I went to install it and the Moog bushings I had were too big for the bar diameter. Apparently they were for a 22mm bar, but mine is 20.17mm in diameter, same as the old one (measured with calipers). I ordered some new...
Yeah, unthreading the broken piece, and the rod on the other side, from the clevis forks will be a challenge. I don’t know if they can be drilled out, or whether using heat would be a no-no because it could weaken the structural steel.
Hi @Homeward_Bound,
I just had the drivers side coilover rod snap at the top of the clevis fork too. I considered rebuilding the kit a second time using brand new Bilstein M7 coilovers and JBA’s existing hardware, but needed to get back on the road asap so went with OME springs and Bilstein...
Ha! I guess Jeep changed it between the 08 and 12 model years. They may have been trying to achieve 0.1 more mpg or something by using a thinner oil. It was on p. 449 in the 08 manual.
Yes it is highly unlikely all 4 sensors are going out at the same time. The thing they have in common is power and ground. (Each would have its own data wire that is unique so those wires are probably fine.) If I were to guess, I would bet the ground wires are all corroded at the ground point...
The front axle gear oil you selected is correct. I just picked up some GL-5 80w90 by Lucas. I don’t think the brand is critical, but the oil weight is.
The rear should be…
SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Gear Lubricant or equivalent
… according to my owners manual (2008). It is important that this is...
I would agree, that will not fit a Liberty. Also, the spring seat looks to be too narrow, in addition to the whole unit being too short. Looks like they sent you one for a lowered and slammed Miata!
New steering rack bushings today from Creative Steel… WOW what a difference! My original R&P bushings were not only crappy, they completely disintegrated on Monday. It was a scary drive to work! Now everything is solid and it feels like a new Jeep!
New Moog tie rods (inner and outer) and an...
Turns out the power steering rack’s bushings had disintegrated. This fragment was not from the front differential, but from the rack and pinion.
This is really close to what happened on the Liberty:

No truer words have been spoken. Love it.
I’ve owned Jeepy since 2011 and 24k miles, and now she’s got 230k. I would say that most of the time she was pretty reliable up until about 170k, and since then she has helped me learn all sorts of new things from YouTube mechanics. Most things under...
If it's not one thing it's another...
Today on my way to work the steering started clunking really badly when turning left to right, and the Jeep felt really unsteady around corners.
I crawled under it while someone moved the steering wheel for me and I saw that the rack and pinion seemed to...
No doubt!!! Seeing serious issues with the Pentastar 3.6L now that are pretty bad, and that’s the bread and butter engine of everything Mopar since 2011. I watched a tear down of that engine and there are a ton of plastic parts, and lots of stuff buried underneath other stuff, making it...
What if a rocker fell off the #4 exhaust or intake valve stem underneath your valve cover? It has happened before on both 3.7 & 4.7’s. The lifter (hydraulic lash adjuster) that keeps the rocker in place can go slack, and the cam can push the rocker off. You could pull the passengers side valve...
Because Jeepy has a bad axle seal and has quite the leak…
I dropped the skid plate today to check the level of diff oil. You can see the fill plug in this photo.
I put a finger in the fill hole and the fluid level is within about 1/4” from the bottom of the hole. Not too bad yet. I was...
