    Not a good idea to run without it, it helps the plates slip without wearing. Any LSD oil should be OK.

    Not too hard to replace but you need a special tool to set the diff up afterwards. Lots of information on here if you search.

    I'm short too, I just step across from the rear door to the top of the tire, mine is lifted so there's no way I'm doing it from the ground lol

    Probably needs a fresh set of clutches in the diff, they wear out, especially if the wrong oil has been used.

    I'd be surprised if they spent that much time and money on balance shaft, it probably stops the crank doing something nasty ~ like the infamous land rover v6 diesel. Hopefully you will get away with it.

    That's impressive. I'm afraid your on the wrong jeep forum for much help with the old 4 cylinder engine, we all have the later v6 / diesels. Try a forum for the earlier Cherokee.

    No idea, I know there was a service bulletin for slow engagement on the first start of the day - fluid drain back, the instruction was to fit an upgraded filter.
