The KK has been performing great, and had a long summer. Recently started throwing a code for misfire #2, and a multi cylinder misfire code as well. Swapped the coils around to see if it would follow the cylinder and it is still throwing #2 cylinder misfire. Plugs look surprisingly good. Can definitely tell when it is misfiring as the engine runs very rough.

It only misfires after a drive, and a warm restart? Cold start it runs great. I ran a heavy dose of sea foam through the tank hoping it would clean up and of course it did not. Oil is clean(doesn’t appear to have any coolant in it) and no sign of coolant in the exhaust, but I’m starting to think it’s a head gasket? Was wondering the best way to diagnose.

Just put in a new MAP sensor in today. Seeing that it is a common misfire issue.(not convinced that is my issue) Will report back after a few days

Just an update: The misfire on #2 came back. Turns out fuel was leaking through the injector back into the electrical plug. Wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see it.

I should probably start a new thread, but thought that I would put an update here for anyone following. Injector didn’t fix the issue. Finally got a compression test and confirmed either head gasket/crack in head on the passenger side. Cold compression was low, once up to temp it has good compression (makes me think head). Coolant is getting in #2 cylinder while sitting overnight. As I am in AZ for the winter and not in a spot to DIY I got an estimate. Just the passenger side was $2800 !! I decided that I’m going to roll the dice and run this thing until May. If it gives up I’ll have to trailer back north, but some searching I can get a new rebuilt engine to my door for around $2,500 from Jeeppartsdepot (anyone have experience with these guys?) normally I would fix what I have, but considering I’m at 178k I would rather put the $$ toward the rebuild. Let me hear your thoughts!
