Every time I try to look at this forum on my iPhone or iPad, I get a pop-up for a $1000 Amazon gift card. I tried erasing my browser history but that didn't work. Am I the only one? Is there a way to get rid of this?

Download the free malwarebytes and do a scan. Also install ublock origin, https everywhere, and privacy badger. These are addons/extensions for Firefox and Chrome.

As I said above, I have Umbra installed on my iPhone and my iPad (it's an app, from the App Store) to block ads and I have opted out of viglink. I never, ever get a popup on either device - from any site.

^ and you're viewing on an iPad or iPhone?

To clear Safari data, in case you've got corrupted prefs, etc that are causing the redirect:

• Go to Settings and select Safari on the menu

• Tap the Clear History and Website Data option (you'll have to log in to all of your sites again, sorry)

Clear History and Website Data
• Confirm by tapping Clear History and Data. Check is the problem with Safari has been fixed.

Then, go to Settings/Safari
• Turn on Block Pop-ups
• Block Cookies/ From third parties and advertisers.

Go back to Settings/Safari again. Look at JavaScript status under Security section. Normally, it’s on by default

• Tap to toggle the JavaScript status to OFF. This should solve the problem.

iPad sometimes. Usually Firefox on my laptop running Linux.

Don't remember ever having issues with my iPad. It is an older one but works for what I need. I'll never own an iPhone,,, Lemmings.

I cleared my browser history and opted out of Viglink and it still hijacked the browser. I will try the Umbra.

Hmmm, that's weird. I'm on my iPad right now and no ad. Course I'm running like iOS 9.3 or something like that.

Did you do everything Leann listed? I have pop ups blocked and don't accept cookies from anyone.

Glad you got rid of it; Not so glad it showed up on my phone today. Seems a lot like the goggle spyware pop-up that's been plopping up lately. Only here.

I just turn the gadget off and come back later.

Unfortunately when anyone attempts to monetize a site it opens the door to hijackware. So much content comes in its hard to filter it, legit sources get and send malware ridden code that doesn’t trigger in current scans and only responds to certain OS. Google Adsense allows admins to edit which ads are allowed, problem is with ad rotation it can be hard to catch the culprit.

One forum this summer I couldn’t access the login with a Firefox on my laptop, ads were hijacking the input fields.

Even Apple apps do this, just cleaned a malware added email profile from my mothers iPhone, it has been on there for year, she kept wondering why her in box was full of spam, turned out an weather app at some point installed a fake email box by adding a profile setting that can’t be found easily. I deleted all her email accounts and it was still there, had to search for how to remove hidden profiles. In Mom’s defense her cataracts kept her from seeing much of what she clicked or OK’ed, now she’s got much of her vision back she’s using the iphone again.
Anyway my point was even Apple OS which many people believe is immune to malware is weak to attacks too, Windows will always be vulnerable to malware because it’s so ubiquitous it is a prime target for hackers, Apple iPhones and i devices are to numerous not to be a target.
I use the kind of apps and settings Leeann recommended with good results. Firefox has some great add ons to prevent external scripts from running. Amazing how much garbage is being loaded every page click. Average webpage will have at least 12 external scripts, markers, cookies, or images it tires to load
I know website owners hate blockers because it hurts revenue, unfortunately blockers are a necessity in today’s world.

Umbra is not compatible with my iPad 4 but I am still able to view the forum on the iPad most of the time. Before Umbra I could not view the forum at all with the iPhone 5s.

Umbra would not allow me to view another web site until I turned it off. It is a ad heavy web site though. Amazingribs.com

Purify used to be a good blocker, but it seems some people have trouble with it after iOS updates.
