I'm trying to fix the very common problem of having the fuel filler clicking off constantly while filling. The service manual says there is an access panel under thge back floor and yet when I pulled up the carpet nothing. Is this a common discrepancy or maybe only something on the export models. I can see a recess where it is sposed to be but the floor is solid.

Install an access hatch;

I plan to eventually put my new fuel.filter in and to do this i will likely drill out the rivets ( you might just cut your. 'Hatch' out with a sawzall or grinder) then I will clean up the mating surfaces really well ( mine will have some sealant on it I'm sure) you might use some small self tapping screws and little tabs cut from maybe 24-22 gauge sheet metal.or something beefier if you like

I'm going to seal mine up with tite bond caulking we use in roofing and sheet metal, its great stuff.

Just food for thought
