Good afternoon,

Long time member, only post when really need a second set of eyes and ears.

I bought a 2002 Liberty 4x4 around 6 months ago with about 215k. Car has been running good. Replaced a few things more for PM. I've put in new coil on plugs, spark plugs, coolant reservoir and cap, camshaft sensor pax side, ps pump and hoses, transmission hoses.

This all started when I took it into a "mechanic" because I couldn't remove the crank sensor, it was seized to the block. I tried for hours but nothing. Took it to him and replaced with rock auto whatever brand sensor. All good despite my ego being hurt for going to mechanic.

Approximately 50 miles later, stumbling, stalling and P1391 code. I read all about cheap Chinese sensors so I ordered a replacement under warranty through rock auto for the crank sensor. I also placed order with Jeep dealer for OEM crank sensor, being told its on "unknown back order."

New rock auto crank sensor arrives today. Car would at least start up and run some. New sensor in and it runs like crap, stumbles terribly with RPM, and dies constantly. New codes besides P1391 are P301 and 304. Engine misfire codes...I am assuming related to faulty crank sensor?

Is this all really attributed to crank sensor and or cam sensor? I haven't even tried re replacing cam sensor. It was also rock auto special.

Jeep was running fine before taking it to "mechanic." Now all these issues. Only job done by him was this one crank sensor.

Love this Jeep, want to figure it out.

Ideas? Thoughts?

Edit> When plugs were out checked compression, all 155-160 range.

part of the problem with electronic sensors is they can be hit or miss, non-mopar sensors for the 3.7, exponentially more so
