We were driving today +- 600km and suddenly my CRD just died, started up a couple of minutes later, and went fine from there. Fuel pump/filter maybe?

Does not really have a fuel pump other than the large expensive high pressure unit driven by the engine.

Check the fuel filter and purge any air out of the fuel head.

I had the same type of issue and it ended up being a combination of a cracked fuel filter housing and a bad sensor in the transmission. mine would be doing fine on the road and just die or loose power would have to let it set for a few minutes and then it would start and go for awhile. was hard to start sometimes also think that was the cracked housing more than the sensor. had both replaced and have not had any problems since.
