Hey, I just checked the link, the Backbone doesn't look that much different from the subframe of the ARB bumper that I have. So, unless you only plan on pulling grocery carts from the corral I'd suggest at least an 8000lb capacity winch. 4000lbs won't get you far when your KJ allready tips the scales at over the max capacity of said winch.

I've got a Warn M8000 on the front and if I remember correctly, Ryan09 has a 9500lb winch up front.

Oh i was asking i dont know how much room there is or whatever. I would want a bigger size anyway.

I just feel like a winch is a good idea and i want to avoid spending money on a bumper if i can.

Seeing as the winch is mounted externally, the sky's the limit with winch size. Winch mounts are sorta like stereos. There's an "industry" standard mounting bolt pattern for the majority of comercially available recovery winches.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Along with that setup you better be thing of installing some OME HD coils to handle the weight. The backbone is not that heavy but but add a winch your talking about 150lbs.You can loose 30lbs or so by installing synthetic rope in place of the steel cable(safer also).

So Backbone+winch w/synthetic rope+OME front coils? Should i just get the Rockfather 1 lift from rockyroad? Its relatively inexpensive it seems. Im guessing I cant go with a 3.5" RockKrawler lift.

Hmmm...
RRO not known for the best customer service!
Search here and over on LOST about just this!
And you will see what I mean Vranes!
You can get OME coil springs from Jeepin' by Al as well.
And he stands behind what he sells.

The Rock Krawler lift is just a longer clevis. You need to install
new coil springs and shocks.
As, like mentioned 100's of times before...
Stock coil springs bag out after 30K-40K and the stock suspension
dampeners (shock absorbers) are also starting to get long in he tooth or
already bagged out as well!

Then your KJ will be good for a long time to come and you will simply be
amazed at how great your Jeep will handle and drive!

You will not regret buying OME coils and a new set of suspension
dampeners!

Backbone is 45 lbs, M8000 is 85 lbs. It sags even with stiffer coils. It hasn't been a big deal.
